I want a dog but I don't want to take care of one. My friend, who happens to live across the street, wanted another dog. Off we went to the Humane Society and viola! She is 2 yrs old, part Basenji and who knows what else -- probably some sort of terrier because she is stubborn as they come. She has some separation anxiety and shreds her doggie bed when there is not a human in the house. I get to walk her and play with her but don't have to train, discipline, or pick up doggy poo. Lucky me!

That's the best kind of dog to have. Wait a minute that what my sister has when she watches my dog!

Love the ears! I bet when you walk her and give her plenty of exercise and attention that will stop tearing her bed apart. I leave the tv on when I go out and it helps with the separation anxiety.

She is adorable! Looks like she's a handful! :rodent:

Sounds like the perfect dog to me! Congrats on your niece.

She looks so sweet Matata. She'll probably calm down and will stop shredding things when she feels safe and connected to her new owner (and you). Or.... she could be like my Bella whose favorite thing is shredding things. Thankfully, at 6 yrs. old Bella no longer shreds her bed or anything of any importance. She still does look for that stray paper towel that one of us may leave hanging around.

Uppy, how is it we've never seen your Roxy? She's so adorable! She has such beautiful soulful eyes.

oh he she looks like a bundle of trouble  our puppy was like that - absolutely hyper for the first few months. He chewed the walls - literally... they do calm down once they adjust to the new house and routine.

nice arrangement you've got there ::)

Uppy - your Roxy does have lovely eyes :)) would love more pics!

Uppy....loves your Roxy.

My friend just got a care package from Roxy's foster mom along with a letter containing some of her history. Roxy was in a no-kill shelter in Fresno. The shelter was over-crowded and under-staffed. Poor little Roxy was there for 10mos. stuck in the same kennel with very little attention. She wasn't adopted because she was hyper -- vicious circle -- no attention means more hyperness which means less chance of adoption.

Anyway, one of the seasonal volunteers stopped by, saw that Roxy was starting to go "kennel crazy" -- she was losing weight, losing hair, and starting to lose her mind from lack of attention. Foster mom took her home and worked with her for a few months and spoiled her rotten. When they have room, the Humane Society in my town periodically takes animals from the Fresno shelter and that's how she ended up here.

I was heartbroken to read of her history and happier than ever that she now has a great mom & dad & canine companions to keep her happy. She is such a love bug.

I was expecting a little baby girl niece, not a doggy!

Like mine. Isn't she the most adorable thing you've ever seen? I'm in love.
