My younger sister has wanted a bulldog fo as long as i can remember. Our mascot in high school was the bulldogs, and so they have a special spot in all of our hearts.
Well, today her boyfriend was driving down a busy road, and i kid you not, he saw a bulldog on the side of the street in a wooded area. No collar, VERY skinny, and looking like he had been scarred on his backside. He looked around for an owner, saw no one, so he brought it to my mom's/sister's house. They took him to a vet, who said it looked like he hadn't been with his owner for quite some time given his weight. They got some flea meds for him, had him checked out, and the vet said she would keep them posted if she heard that someone's pet was missing. My sister has been looking all over Craig's list to see if someone posted that their dog was lost, but so far, no such luck. My mom has said in the event they do need to keep him, she can. ::)

SO....here is Baxter, my sister's foster (for now) bulldog.

What a cute face! He looks so skinny. I'm glad they found him and got him taken care of. I'm sure they'll give him good love- for now or for the long haul!

He's PRECIOUS! Oh, man, do I love English Bulldogs.

Bless your sister for giving this guy a home. He is a really handsome guy. If someone is missing him, I hope they're reunited. But if he is in need of a home, I am so happy that your sister found him!

One of my coworkers has a bumper sticker that says "My rescue dog rescued me". I know that is true in my case, and I hope your sister finds the same joy in this guy as I've found in my rescues.

Yay for Baxter and his new home!

Right place at the right time!!! I'm glad your sis has him (at least temporarily) and is nursing this guy back to better health. Dogs escape from their homes all the time, but I'm wondering why he did not have a collar on?? If his owners were responsible people and his escape was a total unfortunate fluke, I hope they're reunited... Otherwise- I hope your family has a new doggie-member :))

Yay! for Baxter's rescue!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: He's lovely, best wishes to you and your family nursing him back to health and the wonderful canine being that he deserves to be. Bless your hearts.

What a sweet face! I hope she gets to keep him ::)

What an adorable, mushy face! And I like the name Baxter, I hope your sister gets to keep him!

Aw, what a face! Have you had him microchip scanned? One scenario could be that he was stolen and then dumped...if it is a genuine run away case he could be very far from where he originated from so a local search won't turn anything up...maybe contact a local EBD rescue to see if they have any missing dog notices? Is he neutered?

Oh, I hope you can fatten him up and make him a permanent family member (if owners not found).

What a lucky little guy that he landed in good hands instead of getting hit by a car or picked up by someone less kindhearted.

Congrats to your sister for doing the right thing and helping Baxter find a happy ending -- whether it's a reunion with his old owner or a loving home with his new one.

That makes me so sad. Animals are so helpless to poor owner behaviour or being stolen etc. If you can't find the owner or if there is no owner can your sis adopt him? Kudos to her bf for stopping to offer help to a doggie in need.

When they took him to the vet yesterday, she actually has a scanner and nothing came up. He has not been neutered, and actually (tmi) his testicles haven't dropped. She was so curious about what to do since she wants the dog, but she feels so guilty keeping him without first exhausting all resources. Ill suggest looking into rescues for EBDs, although I don't believe there are any local since she looked into it before when trying to find one for purchase. Thanks for the suggestions, tho, since Baxter should be where he belongs!

I appreciate everyones kind words. I know my sister is cautiously optimistic she will get to care for him permenantly, but won't get her hopes up.

I think this rescue would rescue her, to be honest. She needs something positive. The vet said he looks abused bc there are some inconsistent markings on his rear end, but my sister said he is nothing but a joyful playful pup who just wants to be loved. They think he was already dewormed and may have had his shots, but if he hasn't found his rightful owners by next week, they are going to get his shots again. I can't wait to meet him!

Baxter looks like a doll! His face! He is so lucky to have been found by them rather than the alternatives. Keep us posted.

While I am terrified of big dogs, I'm appalled at how skinny he is and I hope he and your mom have a great time together!

Oh, he is so precious, look at that sweet face! It might be tough to track down Baxter's owners, and there's always the possibility he was abandoned...in which case how awesome your sister is willing to open her heart and home to him! I love him, I hope everything works out!

Aaaww... I'm so glad that he was found by a good, caring person! He looks so skinny, she needs to fatten him up! ;))

What a lucky pup!
