I was hoping a few of you could help me understand exactly what the cut dimensions of a diamond mean. I chose a random 1.25 diamond from WhiteFlash.com as an example.

The details are:
6.84-6.92X4.28
WhiteFlash 1.25CT

What exactly are these numbers representing?

Next, do these numbers all depend on the size and carat weight?

What would good dimensions be for a diamond that was:

1.25?
1.30?
1.55?
1.70?

Can someone help me understand what are good numbers to consider for the 4 diamond carat sizes I listed?

Thanks.

the dimensions are refering to the diameter and depth

round diamonds are not always perfectly round... so *that* particular diamond has a diameter of 6.84mm at its narrowest point, and 6.92mm at its widest point - a differance of 0.08mm

the third dim is the total depth measured from the table to the culet in this instance 4.28.

from these 3 you can double check the depth percentage - depth / average dia
or 4.28/((6.84+6.94)/2) = 62.2

Attached is a whiteflash graphic showing carat size to spread, based on ideal depth of around 60% (give or take some 0.1%)

Exactly what I was looking for.

Very Helpful!
Thanks:)
