Hello everyone--- I''m new here, but have been lurking for a little while...

Here''s my BF''s suspicious behavior: We''ve been together for about 3 years and he has been on my case lately about saving money for a trip and for "my future." I''ve agreed with him, but admit that he''s more frugal than I think I''ll ever be. So after having this conversation, the following night while we''re out he says:

So, the guys and I were talking at work and I wondered what your thoughts were on diamonds. This started a conversation over conflict diamonds vs. non-conflict and that he''d heard that some people give emeralds or other stones for engagement rings instead of diamonds. I had a GIANT smile on my face the entire time before saying, Well, if I were to get a ring, I''d want a diamond, to which he said, Well, if I were giving a ring I''d want to give a diamond.

We''ve never talked about engagement rings before and I don''t know if it was the wine or the suspicion that I felt "onto him," but I could not stop smiling...

Welcome! That sounds like a great sign that he''s thinking about it.

Also very sweet he''s considering the issue of conflict diamonds versus non-conflict, because there are certified diamonds from the non-conflict areas after the atrocities were reviewed. Anyways, I''m sure there''s info on here about that.

Hope your stay is short and sweet :)

Thanks everyone for the welcome and tips...

I''m trying not to get my hopes up too high- for all I know, it could have been an innocent statement meaning nothing, but inside it''s hard to hide the giddiness.
