May I get opinions on these CACs?

Hello,

I’m looking for a slightly elongated antique cushion preferably under 12k for the stone and under 17k for the whole project. May I get your opinions on these stones? Am I likely to see a discernible difference in the color and size of these? I’ve spoken with Victor and he said that his current inventory of French cut side stones are G.

https://www.victorcanera.com/diamonds/compare

For settings I am considering the VC bezel set antique cushion with French accents and the Anya solitaire with French cut diamonds.

I also love the vintage halo with the tri wire shank, however I’m thinking I should possibly look for a more square cushion for that design, but that with the halo I could possibly go smaller on the center stone. My ring size is a 3.5.

I am on the east coast so not possible to visit and see these settings and stones in person. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can’t see the stones, can you link them individually?

Did you ask Victor for quotes on the settings? You will then know your max budget for the stone.
The link to the comparison tool does not work...

I really like the largest 1.63 and the smallest 1.29, I would nix the Si1 because I think that carbon is going to be visible

Not a diamond expert but @KKJohnson has given you great advice. The crown on the CAC’s is beyond amazing. I personally love the Anya solitaire (but I am biased as I have the Sophia from Victor with tapered french cut sides).
What an exciting project for you!

I am super excited. It was actually your very setting that he quoted for me. It’s so beautiful! Victor said they could do a cushion in it but I just have such a hard time visualizing it, though I’m sure he would make it wonderful. I was originally attracted to the bezel setting because I chipped my original stone, hence the new project.

So what are you thinking about? You can tweak it! The tri-wire is one of my favorite parts of this ring. It’s a piece of art that you can wear on your finger.

I actually love the one Nicholas suggested. I think it’s proportions are gorgeous and has a nice cut pattern. None are perfect to me, as I’d love to see a G/VS with no leakage, but all of your choices are very nice in their own way (other than the SI, as has been mentioned)

Are you okay with seeing some tint? The H’s have a bit of warmth to them that will be noticeable at certain angles.

Thank you @KKJohnson. I’ll definitely take your advice and dismiss the Si1 from consideration.

This is the stone that Nicholas used in a setting quote. Thoughts?

The 1.6 is going to give you a more elongated look which some people like, but the 1.5 that Nicholas picked has a spectacular facet pattern and has a more square appearance. If you wanted to save a little bit of money then I would go with the 1.43, which under that 1.5 carat weight price bump, slightly elongated, whiter in color, and nice facets as well.

Here are some links if you wanted to view how the diamond sizes compare.

Well I don’t believe I’m that color sensitive. I’ve had an H MRB and most recently a G. I never thought that my H showed any color. Do either of these show less leakage while staying under the 1.5 price bump?

Yes, the 1.38 is minimal and honestly took my breath away. It’s incredibly gorgeous! :geek2: I’d choose that one in a heartbeat!

I agree with others than the more square cushions are going to look better than the very elongated ones in this kind of setting. I'd for sure choose the 1.50 H VVS stone because the 1.38 just faces up smaller and I would go as large as possible for this setting. You have to compare diameter measurements in antique cushions because the face up size can vary a lot even with the same weight. H is high color for an antique cushion. It will face up white. You'll notice the size difference, so I would not go into the under 1.5 range to a higher color if it was me.

Well, this one actually faces up larger than the one above, so I'd choose this one:

OP: You’ll definitely notice the size difference a bit. I just love the faceting of the 1.38 vs 1.5

Yes, the tri wire is my favorite too, I love the look of it. I’m not actually sure how to tweak it just that Nicholas said it could be done. Not sure I can picture anything other than a round in it after seeing how lovely your is. It would definitely be a leap of faith which is why I was investigating other setting options that were done with a cushion.

That one is definitely in the budget. Size is important, as I an coming from a stone that was 1.50 - 7.52 x 7.56 set in the Vatche Caroline setting. Was hoping a more elaborate setting would make up a bit for what I lose in size .

The setting will look fabulous with a cushion!

I am trying to show you the size difference between your round and the 1.5 H VS1 but the site is not coming up for me right now.

@LLJsmom Wow, I was just writing that it would help to see a smaller stone in this setting, and at you were posting a 2 ct cushion! I am sure Victor can scale down the shoulders and shank widths to work with a 1.5. Even in my own setting searches, I try to find a setting with a similar size center, because what looks great with a 4 ct may not look the same with 2! It's just important to realize a setting has to be scaled down in size to go with a smaller center.
