You have responded to some of my posts in our adventure of finding a tiffany style setting that will sit flush. We are now pretty much convinced that we need a new setting. The person that we purchased the ring from said told us to find a Stuller setting that we like and he will set it for us. I really like the setting that Susi has, but I don''t think that any of the settings with the donut on them sit flush. It is my understanding that your ring has the head set up higher on top of the ring. I have searched for pictures of it, but have not been able to find any since you have so many posts

My fiancé would like to see how your ring sits next to another ring if you have any pictures of that. It is tough to pick a ring without ever seeing it. I do not believe that you got your ring from Stuller’s. If not, do you know a comparable ring that they make? Thank you very much for your help. I just don''t want to buy another setting that she doesn''t like.

thanks for posting my thread DS!

atoth...you can see in the thread that DS posted that my head sits on top of my ring on a little metal peg. because of that my rings sit flush.

stuller sells components of their rings and heads so that someone aka a jeweler can build something from scratch for you. so if you like the way my ring looks with the head on top, then you can tell your jeweler to get a stuller solstice head and then get some sort of basic band and have them set it like my style. there is a way to build a ring from scratch for not too much $$ to get that same feel.

my ring was made by a local jeweler who did the band in a melee pave style and then got a stuller head on top of it. i had whiteflash replace my stuller head with another stuller head when i got my upgrade and they modified the head to be more open and fit the stone a little ''lower''. can''t beat a basic stuller head IMO sometimes!!

OR check out cathedral settings which have shoulders that go up the side of the head so it helps the ring sit flush. whiteflash has some like the fine line by le and the sleek line that do that i believe. it''s a little bit of a more ''integrated'' look visually from the side...but some people don''t like the cathedral setting, personal thing i guess.

Actually, I am having my diamond set now in a cathedral type setting. It is not my favorite style, but they do allow the wedding band to sit flush. I honestly didn''t care about the rings being flush, but my jeweler did. He insisted that there would be damage to one or both rings if they didn''t sit flush. Mine has a peg head like Mara''s. So the head sits on top of the band rather than being integrated all the way to the bade of the band. It''s really hard to explain. But I also got a more cupped head like Mara''s rather than a V head, because I wanted my stone as low as possible. I may get it at the end of the week, and if I do, I''ll try to take some pictures.

Atoth, I really feel you are going in the right direction at finding a flush set pair of rings. I feel (since I do not have your diamond band in hand to compare
emwink.gif
...) and Mara''s beautiful peg style is the way to go if you have made the decision to use the Stuller mounts.

With my plain plat band up against my Stuller donut there is a tiny gap....but it is not noticeable in as both rings worn together move around a bit on my finger, sometimes there''s a large gap, sometimes they are close together anyway. Comparing my plain band is not the same as comparing a band with diamonds, I feel......and since I do not have a diamond band to play with, I cannot help you with *that*

You could buy a mount like Precision Set ( I had one of these at one time and while it allows rings to sit fllush, they are higher up on the finger a bit ) but then, that''s going in a different direction than using the Stuller mounts.

susi''s suggestion of the Precision Set is right on...they are all supposed to sit flush. But they are designer so a bit more pricey.

Also check out A. Jaffe''s line of rings..they have small melee in them, something like .15c each, not eternity, just 1/2 but they are about $1k each in platinum and cheaper in white gold, they sit flush as well and have matching rings.

But neither of those are a solitaire paired with a diamond ring, they are both diamond melee rings like mine.

One of my fave solitaires for a flush fit is the Ritani solitaire at Bailey Banks and Biddle, it sits flush with my pre-existing w-ring but it''s $1400. It also has the cathedral style head where the shoulders slope to meet the stone. Though if you do like the cathedral style, check out the Fine Line by Le and also the Sleek Line from WF...I think the Sleek Line is only about $700 in platinum? And should sit flush I would imagine.

So really Stuller is the most affordable way to go most likely ... good luck!
