Hey everybody. I just purchased the diamond and will inspect it tommorow morning, but I am sure it will be fabulous. I have also gotten mixed feelings from others on my rings, but def. going with the knox anyway--hopefully it would be her choice as well.

Now, to the magnified image. I have circled in red several things that look like inclusions but couldn''t be based on the AGS inclusion chart. Those I was told were probably dirt or something in the tray when the image was taken. What I believe and was told is PROBABLY the cloud is circles in green. If so I feel silly to be worried about it, and hopefully I can find it with a loupe from the pavillion for future identification purposes! Assuming those are dirt marks though, then this seems to be a fantastic VS2!

Also, it should be at around 20Xmag

Looks like that might be the inclusion in green and the others could be dirt or dust etc, best to ask the vendor. I hope this one is indeed eyeclean and you are happy with it!

Well that was what I had been told, but when she told me that she wasn't looking at the diamond with a loupe at that moment and that was her interpretation of the diamond.
I guess now that I know where to look I will probably be able to find it with a loupe, but since she wasn't 100% sure at the time I figured I would ask the knoledgable pricescope community.

Also, if that inclusion were just a little off of the arrow this could have possibly been a bit higher grade than a VS2 right? its obviously much easier to locate against the arrow than elsewhere, so I am curious just how high the grade might have been if it had been a little been a little higher to the righ or something?

(also it was confirmed in NY and they had it shipped to maryland where they and my sales rep actually inspected it themselves and confirmed that it was totally eyeclean, excellent dispersion, etc. Whic accounts for why it would have dirt on it, as she was handling it herself and doing it, rather than one of those who regularly takes magnified images for the consumer. So I am very confident now, just trying to find out where exactly and what to look for in the inclusion.)

Those spots you have circled in red look like mirror images of each other. The one on the top left that looks like a "dash" looks exactly like the one on the bottom right. Same with the dot. I think you are looking at specs of dust or something that are reflected off the facets in the diamond. Happens to me all the time when I clean my ring and loupe them...I see little dust particles and specs of fuzz and things reflected like that. Scares the heck out of me for a second or two, but I blow on it, or rinse it off and they are gone. What you have circled in green corresponds to the cloud on the map, so that''s probably what it is. And it''s VERY difficult to see under magnification, so it should be invisible to the naked eye. Looks like a clean stone to me!

Clarity grading is based on many things such as size, colour, location, visibility and type of inclusion etc, so it is to the best of my knowledge ( experts?) that regardless of whether this inclusion is sitting on or near an arrow and is thus more or less visible, the clarity grade would remain the same, especially the minuscule inclusion of this VS clarity grade.

Also as Sipper points out it is not unusual for inclusions to reflect within the diamond, although it is possibly dust or dirt in this case. Sipper, WorkingHard4 has had trouble with a VS clarity graded diamond he bought very recently and is concerned that his diamond is as clean as possible - it also seems he wants it to be as loupe clean as possible too

Well, actually as long as it doesn''t look RIDICULOUS under a loupe then I don''t really care. And I would prefer to have one small loupe visible inclusion for identifiction, which is why I am really trying to find this one. I would like to be able to check it whenever its out of my sites and identify it without worry. Maybe that little gray line is good enough...and honestly, I don''t think I would want to buy a diamond that I couldn''t see at least one very small inclusion in without a loupe. I am a pretty silly guy i think.

Also, those dirt smudges look HUGE they really worried me at first since they weren''t listed on the AGS plot :)

WH, I am just checking, you had a tiny inclusion on the last diamond which bugged you? It seemed unless I am wrong that you wanted to try to avoid seeing anything or for your GF to, I hope this diamond will be the right one for you! Also as you said in the thread below that " you were trying to think of the last diamond's inclusion as a birthmark, but it is hard!" The previous diamond you had DID have a visible inclusion you could see without a loupe and you returned it...

oh well i dont want to it to be VISIBLE for sure, on that I am very insistent. But I still want to be able to identify it as mine and as a truly natural diamond. you know what I mean? its a small matter really, and I could always get a microscope out and tell if it came to that. but yes, first and foremost is a totally eyeclean diamond, which this one will be from all angles.

The last diamond had a black inclusion that was visible from the side and would sometimes reflect and look like more than one! it was small, but I don't want to be able to identify my inclusions with my naked eye!:) just with some assistance from Mr. Loupe!:)

I hope it is exactly what you want this time! You deserve it after all the work and research you have put in! I was just trying to clarify what your hopes and expectations are with your diamond! Hopefully you should be ok this time as the inclusion looks tiny and colourless.

It looks like exactly what you were told. Live and in 3D you can wipe the dust away. If you're going to microscope it, brush water with a tiny drop of detergent onto the diamond. That makes it clear and keeps the dust away (it's how they clarity grade at GIA). Remember that grading is done at 10X so anything seen at higher mag is a non-factor... Sounds like you're having fun.
