Hi All,
I saw a setting on the Helzberg website that I thought I would really like in person. Well Saturday we went there and I do really love it in person. It's so sparkly and a good width. And I really love how the diamonds are set on the sides, it's exactly what I'm looking for. It might be a little too wide since I don't plan on getting a huge diamond though.
There are two problems however. One is the center stone. It's a H-I in color which is ok, it's not a good cut and it's rated I1 for clarity. It just didn't look good.
Secondly is the price. $4,000 for the set with the diamond, however that's a lot of money to spend when the center stone is not that good.
So I was wondering what you all think I should do. Will Helzberg put in a different center stone? Are they negotiable on price? Or should I just find a ring somewhere else?

Also, does anyone happen to know the width of the band. The salesperson guessed 3mm.

Thank you.

When I was shopping with Helzberg, I do believe they said that I could get whatever diamond I wanted in the ring. I think the only stipulation was that one of whatever their signature rings was had to have a signature diamond.

Take a look at this set. It's similar to the Helzberg set, but superior in quality!

Pair that set with this diamond and you'll pay less than they want at Helzberg and have a diamond that will blow the Helzberg ones out of the water. :)

EDIT: If you really want that cathedral style in the ring, have a look at this set.

Much like the previous person stated, these rings look quite like what you're looking for. You get to pick your stone and still be under $4000 or very close to it with a much nicer diamond.

Granted, thats just the engagement ring and would come in at 3ish thousand, but look at what you get compared to the Helzberg ring. Adjust accordingly and I'm sure you can make yourself one excellent set that you'll love.

Thank you for the replies.. I would love to purchase online but I am slightly afraid since you can't see it first. I am quite particular about the width of the bands. I don't want something too skinny or too wide. So with that being said, does anyone know approximately the width of the band at Helzberg? If I could figure out the width, then I would be more content with ordering a ring online.

Hi,

I think you should call the jewelry store back and ask for a precise measurement of the band. They are a jewelry store and most certainly have a pair of calipers to do the measurement. Someone will be able to measure it. I don't think anyone on an internet board could tell you. Call.

yes, definitely call them! also make sure that if you plan to wear a band with it that you try on a band so you can see if you like the width of the two rings together.

If you haven't read though this thread (guy proposed on Christmas and was looking for a ring he found at the same store and got it from GOG for less money and higher quality).

I would find out the width and then order one of the ones above. The quality for the price will be extremely better and especially for the diamond!
