Where do you put it/store it/do with it?

I think I just found the answer - I just read the "how did you pay for your ring" thread - loose change and saving!

But where/how do you store/save it?

I don''t save mine. I just put it in the change purse in my wallet and use it for parking meters. Living in a city definitely drains your change supply.

Before we moved, we had a crystal fish bowl that sat on a table by my front door. When it got full, I took it down to the grocery store to the CoinStar (or something like that) machine, then deposited the cash into our savings. Last summer we went on vacation and used our "loose change" fund as fun money.

20p and over stays in our pockets or car for spending.
10p and under goes into a piece of pottery and when that gets full we bag it and deposit it to our bank account.

We''ve tried saving it for something bigger, but we don''t actually get enough small change since we mostly use a credit card. Putting 2 pound coins ($3 coin) to save means we go through so much money so we keep it to the very small change.

I keep the 50c and one euros in my purse but anything smaller goes into the little guy that I have below. I was after a nice piggy bank for ages and my little sister got me this one-is it sad that I completely adore him?

We save change in one of those 18" tall plastic jars that baldies pretzels come in. The only problem is we can only fill it a little more than half way or else I can''t lift it to bring it to the Coinstar station. My husband has schlepped it to Coinstar and gotten $700.-/$800.- back when it''s about 3/4 full.

My hubby has it sitting on his nightstand, in a baggy IN the nightstand, in drawers, on tables, in pockets/purses... It drives me nuts!! We really need to get a better storage system!

Strange to see this topic. I was just thinking where my loose change went, yesterday. I don't have any anymore. Now I do have a large(ish) purse but still I do not recall having more than a few coins of loose change in ages. Perhaps I am being robbed at night?

Bee* - love your piggy bank. It would only be sad if you carried it around with you, bought it its' own coffee at starbucks and asked its' opinion on purchases.

I put it in my car ashtray, to use for the drive-through at McDonalds.

I rarely have loose change because I use my debit card everywhere. FI however constantly has change. Like dollars and dollars worth in his pants on laundry day. Sometimes it feels like I''ve hit the lottery! We have a jar in the laundry room and one in the bedroom. I use the change for coffee money when it''s the end of the month and cash is tight.

I have an unattractive old vase in the foyer: I dump my loose change in there periodically, whenever it threatens to tear out the bottom of my wallet. Of course, I also raid it on days when I know that I''m going to be living out of the vending machines ....

My b-day is coming up: the week before, I''m planning to find a CoinStar, and whatever is in there will go towards my "I Am Buying Myself a Piece of Real Jewelry to Celebrate Being a Real Grown-Up" fund.

we have a brewery growler that we keep it in. we once had about 60 bucks worth of change in there!

We use it to save up for vacation money :) BVI here we come!

I keep mine in a plasic gatorade bottle that is in my closet. The bottle held about 1 liter of Gatorade and has a wide mouth so it is easy to fill. It''s small enough, however, that I can still pick it up when it is full.

I''m certainly paying more attention to my change these days !

I save it ALL in a big jar and cash it in when the jar is full. Last time I had $140.00

We have a humongous vase that we put all change and occasionally some dollar bills into. Right now it''d pretty empty because we have been using our cards instead, but we finally had to hide it because my dad kept cashing it out for us (and sometimes using the money if they were broke), which meant we were more likely to spend it because it was in bigger bills. I want to keep saving until we have enough for a trip this summer

I have a cute little piggy bank that says "Jewelry Fund" on it. It was a gift from my sister

We keep ours in a jar in the kitchen cabinet. Hubby always has loose change. I love taking it to my bank once it gets full.

lol-nope haven''t done that! He has a little mark on the top of him and D wanted me to pick one without the mark on it but for some reason I couldn''t part with the one that I have.

They have them in Urban Outfitters-they''re so cute!

Yesterday, when I posted this, I kept finding change everywhere in my house while I was cleaning and wondered where everyone else puts theres...I have a glass jar in the kitchen that holds the loose change. I also have a freezer ziplock bag that is full right now, stuck in my closet, yet we never take our change anywhere to get cashed. I''me surprised we have change at all because like many of you, I use my debit card and RARELY ever carry cash.

I usually put all of my loose change into some coffee tins, and when they get filled up, off to the Coinstar machine I go!

I got about $50 bucks back a couple of days ago

I toss all my loose change into a "Wedding Fund" piggy bank. Since the wedding''s done and paid for, I''m saving up for a new addition to my jewelry box!

I keep it in my wallet and use it so as not to waste money.

Wow - so you never have any loose around your house? That''s pretty good.

I remember when I was younger, my sister and I used to clean our dad''s truck - we LOVED cleaning his truck because we would find loads and loads of coins under the driver''s side. Change would fall out of his pockets all of the time. It was fun.

No, because the hubs doesn''t use his loose change. Grr.

I''ve been putting it in my baby''s piggy bank. When it''s full I''ll put it into her savings account.

We very rarely use cash, but our loose change either stays in our cars for parking meters or when our car stash gets full, we bring it inside and put it in the United Thank Offering that is collected through our church to go to worldwide relief.

DITTO!
We empty our pockets, and leave the change wherever deems fit that day. We need to start putting our change in a collective receptacle, as I know change adds up!!

I have a little box that I toss all the change into, then cash it in once or twice a year. Sure adds up! Although, not so much anymore, as I''ve developed a severe addiction to Dr. Pepper from the vending machine at work. So there go my quarters!

I rarely use cash but if I have change I keep it in my car. DH has change EVERYWHERE. It drives me crazy since it is a choking hazard. Just this morning Tessa found a random penny on the ground

Luckily I grabbed it pretty fast.
