Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous price..

Re: Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous pri

Actually, a member here priced the Benchmark platinum band that he liked the other day, and he told me the price quote was $1800+. So I am not surprised at all with that pricing. But I'd go for the Tiffany Lucida at that price point, though:

http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP00370&mcat=148204&cid=288152&search_params=s+5-p+13-c+288152-r+101323340-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

The good thing about Tiffany is that they use the more durable platinum950/50ruthenium alloy. I would be careful not to get the softer platinum950/50iridium.

Re: Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous pri

i actually tried on the lucida last week and wasnt that impressed. i wanted more of a dome (surprisingly) than the lucida had. i also thought 4.5mm was a little too thick also. 4mm is perfect for me. this band (the etsy one) is perfect but the price is not. a simple band like this should not be >$1000. e-weddingbands and blue nile have similar ones for <$1000 but not exactly like this.

Re: Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous pri

Have you tried eweddingbands.com. I got mine there, they are Plat 950, and they use rithium(sp).
Their prices are very competitive and the lowest I have seen. Mine is 4mm wide, they have lots of variities.
Here is mine:

I have to say I think that etsy ring is really nice looking - great proportions. However, if I were looking for something like that I'd probably get a James Meyer ring - it's equally a work of art, and costs several hundred less!

WhiteFlash has some at much better prices. But you'd have to ask them what the platinum alloy is or if they can specially make it with the harder alloy.

Nope, ewedddingbands are cheaper:

i sent e-weddingbands an email asking if they can get the domed plain band in 2mm height. i suppose it may be worth asking the etsy seller what their white gold price would be (or even if they could do palladium) but i dont really want to deal with the hassel of getting it redipped....

Nope, what? I posted two rings from a known vendor that were less than the etsy and Tiffany rings that were posted at the outset...which was answering the original poster's question. I am sure there are tons of cheaper rings out there, but I'd research the weight of the ring and alloys and get the best quality for the best price, not necessarily the cheapest. He may get many links in this thread, which will be good!

It says it is available in 2.3mm height. http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/platcf4info.html

This isn't a custom ring maker, so I think those will be your two choices for that ring. They are made with the plat/ruthenium alloy which is great!!!!

*ahem*

In James Meyer's own words:

The Wedding bands in the pictures below are ones that I have custom made in the past. I have no "made up" stock to sell. As with many of my one-of-a-kind pieces, I consult with the customer about the style, metals and stones to be used, so that the bands compliment the engagement rings the customer has chosen.

Re: Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous pri

jfmii,

If you look at the eweddingbands stock, you will see that there are a variety of domed platinum rings in a variety of widths and heights, including 2mm, 1.9mm, and 1.8mm. Now whether they have one in your exact desired width and height and style, I don't know, but there must be at least four or five different domed styles (European, low dome, dome in light/regular/heavy).

Re: Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous pri

E-wedding bands actually will customize their rings- not sure to what extent, but it's worth asking. They've custom-made me one ring and offered to do another to adjust the domed-ness of it (I didn't go that route- liked the ring as-is). However, once they do that, it is no longer refundable.

Re: Looking for this wedding band without the ridiculous pri

thanks everyone for the tips. it sounds like, after speaking with e-weddingbands, that they can make a 4mm wide X 2mm high comfort fit band for a SIGNIFICANT discount to the etsy listing.
