Hi guys,
A friend of mine is starting to look for rings and he is absolutely clueless about where to begin. I told him I would try and help him find something, and since you guys were so helpful when I was buying my ring, I thought I would come to you again for him.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have a budget or a size in mind... so this could be a little tough.

I thought that I would show him some "eye clean" cushions and some "eye clean" round brilliants at multiple price points, and from .80 carats to 1.5 carats.

In other words:

Cushion: ~$3,000
vs
Round Brilliant: ~$3,000

Cushion: ~$4,000
vs
Round Brilliant: ~$4,000

Cushion: ~$5,000
vs
Round Brilliant: ~$5,000

Cushion: ~$6,000
vs
Round Brilliant: ~$6,000

I don't know much about what proportions and color are considered good for a Cushion but I guess for the roudn Brilliant it should be within the Tolkowsky angles

I know this is asking for a bit much, but if u have some spare time, I would really appreciate your opinions...

(Also, I want to show him pictures- so I guess JamesAllen like sites would be best)

He needs to figure out how much he can spend before you can even begin to usefully help him. The price scale is more like 3k-15+k for that size range, depending on other specs.

If he wants a very general idea of what his money will get him BN and JA are good databases - just have him search for RBs and filter by G VS2 and poke around, if he isn't sure of what shape he wants. Once he decides on a pricepoint you can move onto specifying the shape and finding promising specimens of a given colour/clarity

All RBs look essentially the same and nice cushions come in a variety of flavours, so I really don't know what pictures would achieve at this point... a list by colour/clarity at certain pricepoints would be more useful but he can get that himself on BN/JA.
