Hello,

At the end of January I get my bonus and am going to buy an engagement ring for my well-deserving girlfriend. I am looking to spend between 3000-3500 total on diamond and setting. I want to get her a setting similar to the one found on Bluenile.com called Platinum Pavé Diamond Setting (1/2 ct. tw.). This has pave diamonds on three sides. The setting is approx. 1400 dollars. Does anyone know if there is a cheaper option out there? I would also consider white gold if the setting is the same? For the center diamond, I want a round stone with Table between 54-59 depth between 59-62 color of at least J and SI2 or better. Basically a very good "value" stone. I know for 3000-3500 I''m going to have to comprimise a bit so I want to get the most bang for my buck. Any suggestions where I should start looking? This seems to be a tough setting to find. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Shouldn''t be very hard because the style has been very popular for a while. There are versions available off catalogs of semifinished jewelry that can be put together by whoever the seller of the diamond is. The only catch with these is that there are no glamorous pictures online and you do need to trust the jeweler with getting the details right. Honestly, I wouldn''t be surprised if your jrweler can identify which casting company BN gets their goods from. Not all such forms have any catalog online - Stuller and Adwar do. You may want to take a look.

BN''s diamonds are not the least expensive. If you are after a stone close to "ideal cut" ... well, there''s more than table and depth going into that recipe. Looking up quotes around here can''t hurt that much - between a dozen sellers, there are quite a few options always.

Hope the 0.2 helps.
