Looking for: Custom Tension ring maker preferably in Canada

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a custom tension setting ring designer preferably in Canada (to avoid duties).

I already have a diamond and just need the ring made.

You don't have to pay duty when shipping in from the US. You only pay GST or HST depending on your province.

I've had jewelry custom made and ordered from the US before from James Allen and had to pay a significant duty on it when it got shipped to me. Can I avoid this in the future?

Also I've seen that jeweler before, but do they do custom designs? I'd like to submit my own design and have them make it.

Any US jeweler suggestions are welcome too!

A friend had her ring made here. http://www.absolutetitanium.com/ Based in downtown Montreal but not sure if they do custom. Never hurts to ask.
A funny thing is that a friend's sister is the designer but I never had the opportunity to buy anything. My friend's ring is beautiful.
Everything is TI. What metal are you looking for?

When you say "duty" are you perhaps mistaking it for sales taxes? You should not pay any duty -- which is a levy on top of taxes -- on US made jewelery. But you will pay Canadian sales taxes. The removal of duty for US made jewelery is a newer policy, I think post 2008 or 2009. If you bought your ring before 2009 then you may have paid actual duty. But you will not pay any duty now.

Tension settings are not easy to make and honestly ... I suggest sticking to people who really know / specialize in tensions.

Tension settings are not easy to make and honestly ... I suggest sticking to people who really know / specialize in tensions.

It's not just someone reputable or who have made a few tension rings. Tension rings (done right) is a whole class on its own.
