Hello All,

I've been reading the forums for a while and wanted to ask your advice. My boyfriend and I are talking about getting married and have been looking at rings. I fell in love with this one (see pic attached) by JBStar, but it's out of our price range. He has already bought a 1.5 carat round diamond. Please let me know if you've seen any rings similar to this one that I can see out on the web. Or, do know how much it would cost to have something like this created by a designer? (Hoping to find a setting under $3500.) If we had it designed, there'd be a few minor things I'd like changed, but overall, I love this ring. BTW - we're in Chicago.

Any advice or information is greatly appreciated!

Jeannie

I look at that setting and "under 3500" does not compute. There are some similar settings I''ve seen to that one... and all of them seem to be priced higher than that. Custom would cost you more than 3500 for I''m thinking too... although you can try knox for a qoute and see what they come up with, they are the most reasonablely priced custom design vendors on here.

Are there specific elements that you like ... and other''s that could be re-interpreted?

I mean are you just looking for a haloed threestone with round center and pear sides? Or do you want a square halo for the round with all that melee with thick halos for the pears too. How similar does an alternate setting have to be?

I haven't seen anything exactly the same, though some with similar styles:

3-Stone Halo at Knox (they do custom work)

Ritani RB center (no halo) + pear sides (with halo)

A lot of the members here have had custom work done by designers at the diamond vendors listed here (Good Old Good, Whiteflash, Engagement Rings Direct...), and they have beautiful, reasonably priced, custom rings. They have also said that they are wonderful to work with! At the top of the page in the gray banner area, click "RESOURCES" then click "DIAMOND VENDORS;" you could take a look at what they have stock and what custom work they have done.

Unfortunately, going custom for something like that will run you far more than $3500. Your best bet would be to try and find a stock setting, but honestly, I don''t know that I would trust the pave work of a setting that elaborate that cheap if that makes sense. There is a BIG difference between good pave and bad.

that setting gypsy posted is gorgeous and much more delicate looking!

Ritani Endless love actually has the nicest delicate three stone halo with a round center and pear sides IMO. But I KNOW that will cost above 3500. Then of course there is Beaudry and the like who will have amazing three stone haloed settings.... but again, way above 3500. That Natalie K is the only one I know of that *might* have a chance of being in budget with that similar look.
