looking for a quality ring setting

There is no shortage on this site of recommendations for online diamond vendors. However, does anyone have a specific recommendation for a good setting vendor?

I have found a couple of settings on GoodOldGold (by Ingwer) that I like, but without being able to physically hold the ring I can''t really know what kind of quality I will be getting.

The whole buying a ring online thing is a little unnerving, but it appears to be the best way to get the most product for the dollar.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you aren''t going the custom route most people buy the setting from the same place they bought the diamond

well Pearlmans by far has the biggest online selection of settings. all are good quality- high-end quality designers so you might start by lookin there.

What''s your budget like? Custom route might not be a bad idea if it''s within budget.

I always prefer to go to my local jeweler and see a selection of the rings. They don''t mind if I buy the diamond online or from a different jeweler. Of course they''ll be better with pricing if I get them both from them as a package. I think getting a diamond online with a certificate is easy but you do need to see and feel the ring before buying (unless you don''t mind buying it and returning if not happy - just make sure they have a good refund policy)

I think I am going to go with a channel mount, in (hopefully) platinum. I want to keep the price of the setting under 2000.

Generally speaking, am I better off getting the setting locally and than ordering the diamond online? I am going to go to local shops this weekend, so I guess I’ll get a good idea of how the prices and availably stack up.
