Looking for a pink stone

Hello guys ! My mother has found an old ring set with a poor quality diamond in her stuff. The mount is nice though and I told her I would look around for a pink stone (she loves pink but never got a pink stone in all her rings !) to replace the diamond. I immediately thought about a pink spinel but a pink sapphire could just do the trick though I find pink spinels to be more of a pure pink.
The thing is I have never purchased a stone for a given setting and this one would require a 6-6.1 mm brilliant round stone. Budget would be no more than 1000 dollars. I will gladly taxe any advice, thanks

Starting off by saying that I am not an expert by any stretch.

This is unfortunately too big at 6.6-6.7mm but, depending on the desired shade of pink, garnet could also be an option:

Baby pink 6.1mm unheated Montana sapphire for $1100? You're paying for the origin here, I think there are better options elsewhere given the inclusions.

All of the pink 6mm rounds from JTV: https://www.jtv.com/category/gemsto...121144243+1523171382+49714067?_=1729609426684

Many of these are also listed on Africa Gems, check to see which has better pricing because it depends on the stone

Here's a 5.9mm tourmaline for $294 - 15% = $250 if you sign up for emails: https://www.africagems.com/tourmaline-round-0-7-201818234.html

Often when chasing something really specific it's best to work with a dealer. Desert Rose Gems and Cecile Raley Designs tend to be well-priced and can maybe help.

There are also lab diamonds, sapphires, and spinels that come in pink if budget is really an issue or you're chasing a super expensive color, you could discuss those on other subforums here.

Generally, if the cut is the same you could put a 5.50 mm to 6.50 mm stone in a 6 mm mount.

I would reach out to adamant directly, they have many stones not listed on their site. I'll bet they can find you something lovely for your budget.

* find out how deep the mounting is as well- that will effect if the stone fits depending on how deep the cut is.

Depth is a big thing to consider! Most colored gems have much steeper crowns and deeper bellies than diamonds. That requires more room under the basket and longer prongs. So keep it in mind!

If the prongs are claw and solid, the prongs can be bent a little to accomodate a new gem if the size is reasonably close. I’ve done it with a few rings.

Thanks for all the advice guys, looking around with all those in mind !

Agree that a nice heated hot-pink sapphire should be getable in your price range. For a stone that petite, I'd spend for a color that really pops. I agree with spinel or sapphire -- although I think you'll have better luck finding a killer color in heated sapphire. Spinel has kind of gone nuts with all the Jedi/neon voodoo, imo.
