Hey Everyone,

Well now I''ve decided on the setting I want, I need to find a pear diamond.
I am in Sydney Australia and have called a few (around 4) diamond wholesalors but none of them have any pear''s in stock with my requirements and we will have to wait 2 months and up.
I''m looking for a 1.5 carat pear, either a F or G in a SI1 or SI2 ( eye clean of course). I''ve decided I want a thin halo around the pear. My finger size is a 4.5 so I''m not sure if I should have a "fat pear" or "long" pear. My fingers are relatively longish and look even longer as I have very long nails.

Any help will be much appreciated. After much research I have realised with the exchange rate, I would be better of buying a diamond in Australia rather than GOG, whiteflash etc. It works out the same BUT if I still cannot find a nicely cut pear, I may have to go overseas ( but go down in carat size)

TIA!

You could try Garry Holloway at www.preciousmetals.com.au Garry might have some pears in stock or might be able to source what you are looking for.

You had plenty of detailed responses and suggestions in your other thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/for-those-buying-diamonds-online-is-it-worth-it-with-the-current-economy-market.103683/
Just wondering if you've tried those options yet?

I have tried a few, still need to get in touch with Jogia''s.

Anyone know what I need to look out for with a pear shaped diamond?

Shapes can vary with pears so it is important to have detailed photos so you can see if a particular pear meets your requirements in that respect. Also a vendor who can supply ASET or Idealscope images as well as photos is essential, otherwise you are buying blind and have no idea of how your pear will actually look. Although you can't judge these shapes by numbers, you can use this chart as a guide, but images are the important aid in choosing.
