Actually looking for a lotta help!

I have posted on here a few times about my round diamond that needs a home. Honestly, I didn''t have any idea how hard it was to find the perfect setting. I love halos, but after drooling over them for months, I realize on a round of 3 carats, I will probably get tired of it. I love the split shank look, but am looking for something different, something with a few stones on the side that enhance the diamond, not hide it. I have been on all the designer sites, and been in all of the local stores. I just can''t find anything that wows me. I don''t mean I haven''t seen some good choices, but for ME, I want THE ring, one that has some substantialness to it, and delicate seems so in. The settings all look great on the computer, but close up they look so totally different. I love Leon Mege, but my thought is that up close in person those settings may be too delicate, and I am trying to avoid adding another wedding band. In his world a 3 carat stone is nothing.

Do any of you experts have any ideas? I think I am driving myself insane.

Sorry, I know this is a silly problem, but I just want to do it right.

Here is the setting I am getting custom made from white flash. I know its probably not what you are looking for, but I am just trying to help...

Thank you that is very pretty, are you going to another band with that? I have a hard time visualizing the with of the rings.

Gail if you post at least some of the pictures you like with comments it would be easier for everybody to suggest something.

I know, I have read the instructions and being photo challenged,, I could not get them to upload!

Attach you files to the reply to my e-mail please and i will post.

While I''m waiting for the pics, here''s my two cents...I just love the simple classics.

Threestone with pear sides like KristyDarling''s, or simple (perhaps pudgy) baguette sides.

It just doesn''t get better! (IMO

Thank you PS, I will have to do a bit later-I am late for work! Pics to follow......

Here are Gail''s favorites, last 2 are obviously Leon''s, the rest she will comment on herself.
My personal feeling is that you Gail are not looking for something simple, but rather decorative intricate design.

3 carat RBC = a world of setting options!

I tend to agree with Widget that simple classics are best for large stones. And if you think you might get tired of the halo or split-shank look then I agree that you should avoid that. The simplest and most "substantial" way to set your stone IMO is with one large-ish sidestone on either side of your center: rounds, pears, or trillions. I''ve even seen step-cut or brilliant-cut trapezoids that have looked amazing next to a round.

Maybe you can provide more detail so we can help further: do you like antique look settings, with pave or filigree? Are you more of a modern/contemporary type? Do you prefer thicker width shanks or thinner? Do you like bezels? Would you consider colored sidestones, i.e. pink or blue sapphires?

Ah, now that I see those pics I have a better idea of what Gail''s looking for. Thanks PRicescope! Off to hunt for pics.....

You've got great taste Gail! Those are all gorgous. This is my pick for a 3 carat RB. Classic, shows off the diamond, perfect. Also not too delicate.

Ooooooh, awesome pick, Jazmine!

Gail, have you tried on the styles you''re looking at in person with a large stone? internet pics can look so different in person. Dee jay was just on a hunt for a new setting for her 3+ carat stone and ended up going for a very intricate detailed setting. She never could have chose it though w/out seeing it in person. I personally love classic 3 stone looks with large centers, that one with baguettes jasmine posted is gorgeous but I understand the desire for a very detailed piece of art type setting too. The 3 stone could definitely be worn alone if you go that direction.

Ditto, I love this ring!!! Such a classic.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, and let me tell you I have seen your rings in the SMTR forum, and they are gorgeous. Part of why I am having a hard time is because the choices are endless, and apparently here in Mpls, there are NO settings for large stones. I am not kidding-I have started looking at gemstone settings and that''s working better.

I am trying to incoporate some of the interesting rings in the pics that were posted, but in a more contemporary look-I am afraid I will tire of the beadwork and engraving-so just platinum and diamonds for me please! I like the wider rings, with the center stone setting a bit higher, and small diamands on the gallery, and basket, claw prongs(who doesn''t love those Leon details).[:appl: I do love the pears or traps with it, and I may end up going that route. There will also be some surprise diamonds and a bit of gold in my dream ring, but those are simple details.

The other day I purchased a CZ with a halo, just so I could look at it for a while, and get it out of my system! It is beautiful, but I think I want something a little less on my hand. The bad fakes will do that to you in a hurry too.

Any ideas are so appreciated.

I was a little afraid someone would call me spoiled or a princess for having a hard time making up my mind......thank you for being helpful!
