I need to find a jeweler who can help design and build a ring or find someone in New York City that sells the type of ring I’ m looking for.

Ring needs to have:

Antique
Natural Design
Filigree style
White Gold
Central old world style
I have a diamond
A little whimsy

Please help me find the right jeweler.

ERD engagment rings direct Mark or Chris 580 fifth avvenue same building as GIA...My nephew is going there tomorrow to design a ring.

Do you havve examples of what the feeling of the ring is those are a lot of adjectives you listed. also shape and approximate size of stone?

Hi mhoway,

Congrats on your upcoming engagement!

It'd be easier for people to comment on the right jewelers if you have a more specific view of what sort of antique or reproduction ring your fiancée (and you) want. If you have details or pics, pls share them. Meantime, here's a link to a sticky thread above with a list of some antique/vintage jewelry dealers, some of whom also sell reproduction rings:

You can browse their websites for ideas and to narrow it down a bit.

If you want to go see some actual rings in real life -- either antique or in the antique style -- around NYC, you might try Doyle & Doyle downtown (www.doyledoyle.com), along with Erstwhile Jewelry in midtown. Neither one will be inexpensive, but you can really see and touch and get your eyes tuned up there. Also, if you're near 47th Street, you might check out Gray & Davis, a longtime seller of antique pieces who's very knowledgeable and has a small booth in one of the jewelry exchange buildings there. Her inventory is smaller but her pieces are nice and she really knows her stuff.

Good luck and pls keep us posted! Enjoy the journey.

I am now able to be much more specific in what I am looking for. I have defined a ring that I would like have made. I have a diamond that I got appraised, its just a little smaller then a carrot. Its clarity is VS1 and has a G color. I need someone who can build the ring that I want. I have some sketches that hopefully will help with any questions.

The diamond will sit in an oval shape, recessed into the ring. The ring will either be white gold or platinum. From midway down the ring up to the oval shape will be a vine with leaves coming from. The vines and leaves will be raised up from the ring. The thin part will have leaves etched in the metal.

This design has lots of meaning in our families. The leaves that are on the bottom of the ring come from her parents wedding rings. the diamond that I am using was my grandmothers and the vines represent both families coming together. We are also both into the feel and look of vines, as our apartment can attest to.

So who can make my ring ?

Greenlake Jewelers in Seattle. They do a lot of long distance work and have a great online consultation system. They seem pretty much tailor-made for what you want .....
