The profiles represent the stone you found next to THIS Whether you will find the difference of color grades relevant once two set stones are compared I cannot know - these comaprisons seem to mean different things to everyone. It seemd funny that your stone matches the other for length with the difference of proportions accounting for the rest. And that is a relatively larger looking 1 carat and less deep too.

It woudl be nice to have some details about the look and brilliance of the E/VS. Otherwise, you can use the AGA cut grades as refference given the information already available about your stone. It sounds fine to me

Thanks, I am a little confused as to how you came to the two pear shapes on the measurements I provided. Very new at this!

Oups... my posting was not very clear.

The picture shows the GemAdviser model of the 1ct I/VS2 pear mentioned above (left) next to a model of the 0.85 you describe (right). Of course, all I know about your pear are it's easurements, so I reproduced it's proportions relative to the 1 ct stone. The other details (facet pattern, light reflections eyc.) are just a model - they do not match your pear, of course - but the relative size and proportions of the two diamond pictures are correct.

Sorry for the confusion.

Wow, if the proportions of the stone you are considering match the picture that Valeria put up then I would say the stone has the potential to be a winner. The cut and scintillation will tell you the rest of the story. I bought a marquise that sparkles like crazy and it was no easy task as they can have great proportions but look terrible. Is the vendor you are working with one who can look at it for you before you order it and tell you more about it? If so (and even if not), you can still have it sent to an independent appraiser to view and make sure that you are in love with it. I think the price seems good but I did not do a search so can't be certain.

Don't forget to ask for the Pricescope discount and if you order from Whiteflash they get the stone in to look at themselves before they send it on to you. I just looked at the inventory list and believe that is where you were considering based on the price you quoted. I bought my stone from Whiteflash and could not be happier. If you have not spoken with them yet, I highly recommend Denise - she's a straight shooter and will tell you if it's great or not so great.

Believe everything she tells you - you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Valaria for clarifying, seems like a good stone then, of course it would be nice to see it in the flesh also to make the final decission

Zoobiedo, yes I found this at Whiteflash, I will contact them/Denise for more info. Problem I have is I am from the UK and so not sure if I can return the stone if I am not happy with it.

The traumas of buying without seeing!
Thanks both for your help
