Looking for a custom setting in the Bay Area

With the help of this forum I proposed to my gf two months ago. But now I face the next big dilemma. Which setting?

She does have something in mind based on various setting she has seen at local jewelery stores. Most likely she would consider doing a custom setting.

Does anyone have any recommendations for jewelers in the bay area?

People happy with their results and willing to share?

We used a designer through Garrett Jewelers in Aptos, CA. It took about a month for the ring to be made, and the workmanship was excellent. We met with Jeff Garrett (bought our stone with them etc) and showed pictures of what we liked, talked about my preferences, so they really had a feel for what we were looking for. Then they worked with the designer to create the ring--we worked through Jeff. The price was very reasonable as well--compared to some branded similar type settings we had found. Would definitely recommend them...if you call them tell them that Mara & Greg sent you!

I had a setting custom made (pretty much from a design they had) at Joe Escobars in San Jose years ago. The quality of the workmanship was great. I don't know if they do original designs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did, so you might give them a call. Also, if you search on them here, they come up periodically.

Michael Devlin in Sebastopol, CA does beautiful work. I found his website.....devlinjewelry.com on line, loved his custom designs and worked with him totally through e-mail to choose a design and then talk through a matching band, consider which type of platinum alloy would suit my preferences, etc. He was just awesome to deal with and I am super happy with my rings (see on page 5 under the eye candy folder) on "Show me the ring". another (screen name Meraj) also used Michael (she liked my ring) and has said she has been thrilled.
