Looking for 2 carat round

The stone scored very poorly on the HCA with a 5. A good stone should be anywhere from 0 to 2. The HCA helps weed out poor performers. Not all GIA XXX are going to be top performers due to the criteria they use.

Are you set on D VVS quality? High colour and clarity makes the stone a bit more attractive but the cut is what catches the eye and sets it apart with the crazy sparkle. High colour gives it that icy cold look and as long as it is eye clean from 6 inches away is really good enough, unless there are cultural reasons or personal preference.

If you have that kind of budget, I sincerely recommend contacting Good Old Gold or WhiteFlash. They may not have a stone in stock at the moment, but if they source a stone for you, they can check light performance to be sure you are getting a top quality stone.

This one looks good by the numbers, but you'd still need an idealscope image, if possible. Or if not, you could send it to one of the independent appraisers to verify light performance.

This stone has the potential to perform well. One thing that makes me nervous is the fact that it is hovering right at the 2 carat mark. One little accident and it is going to take a valuation drop from a 2.01 ct stone to a 1.9x ct stone (price per ct increases at the 2 ct mark). Just something to think about.

Absolutely your choice, if you are able to find anything with high clarity and colour. My gut feel is that it will be slim pickings with your requirement. The nice thing about going just a smidge under is that you can still call it a 2 ct stone and it will look and measure like a 2 ct stone, all without a 2 ct stone price tag.

just a friendly FYI that you do not in a million years see any color difference between an F and D even when the 2 stone sit together. I am very color sensitive and i am not able to tell from both top down and from the pavillion view, unless i havea set of master stones with 2 diamonds placed top down on white holders. however you could get a much bigger stone for the same price in F color vs D/E color grades.

I think stones are a little more attractive when they have more crown showing. 54-58 is the range I consider, but I'd go 55-57 optimally. 34-34 on crown angle, 60.0-62.3 on depth, and 40.6-41.0 pavilion angle. These measurements usually would get a grade of AGS Ideal cut. I wouldn't settle for less than that if I was spending over $50k on a diamond.

This is in range of diamondseeker2006's suggestion. I agree it's a big purchase and you should check all the options available. Will looks for more diamonds that fit your criteria.
