looking at emerald cut diamonds - where to start?

Hi, again, I have decided to go with my heart and get an EC diamond, after ordering an H&A RB and finding that it''s not me. I went to my local B&M and tried on a few for size. I like a more square cut EC or a 1.5 length to width ratio set east-west the best on my hand. Size - .50 to ,75. I looked at a few posts to get some overall critera for EC''s and I found this stone:

Color H
Clarity VVS1
Polish Very Good
Symmetry Good
Fluorescence None
Measurements 6.09 * 4.12 * 2.85
Table 61
Depth 69.2
Photo enclosed.
My question is how important are polish and symmetry (this is an ideal)? What about girdle? This stone''s girdle is ex-thin to medium. I''m a bit concerned about how it would hold up in an open setting.

Oh, geez, the picture''s huge! I can''t remember how to resize, sorry.

The dark zone is way to big on that diamond. (dark areas)

Stay med. and above on the girdle.

good on sym/polish need to be evaluated by an expert in person to see if they effect the face up appearance, good is a huge range and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks, Storm, This is going to be tough; there''s not much "good stuff" out there in EC''s. Whiteflash and GOG have a few stones but the dimensions aren''t to my liking. James Allen has a lot of stones but again not many with good dimensions. Not all of them have pictures.

I''ve got the dimensions down re table/depth/crown, but judging the quality from the photos is a whole other story. I did read your post/article on step cut stones. It was helpful in showing me what to look for in ASET/IS images.

In that case call gog and have them pull a couple in, they will call in 2 for free.
He also has access to a lot of step cuts not on the lists.

WF will also call in diamonds but there is a fee on the ones you don''t buy.

Storm has steered you in the correct direction. I would pass on this EC in a heartbeat due to the huge dark area in the center.
