I went to view some Tiffany embrace rings today.

I KNOW I can get the same quality cheaper elsewhere, but I want to get the Tiffany ring, so please don't tell me about this.

I looked at the following rings:

0.77 Carat, F, VVS2 - $10,900
Depth % = 61.5
Table % = 56
Crown Angle = 35.1
Pavilion Angle = 40.8
Culet = None

HCA Light Return = Excellent
HCA Fire = Excellent
HCA Scintillation = Very Good
HCA Spread = Very Good
HCA Total = 1.7

0.80 Carat, H, VS2 - $10,300
Depth % = 62
Table % = 56
Crown Angle = 35.5
Pavilion Angle = 40.8
Culet = None

HCA Light Return = Very Good
HCA Fire =Very Good
HCA Scintillation = Very Good
HCA Spread = Very Good
HCA Total = 2.6

0.57 Carat, G, VVS1 - $9,000
Depth % = 60.7
Table % = 59
Crown Angle = 34.1
Pavilion Angle = 41.1
Culet = None

HCA Light Return = Very Good
HCA Fire =Very Good
HCA Scintillation = Very Good
HCA Spread = Very Good
HCA Total = 2.6

To my (untrained) eye, all 3 stones looked beautiful. I could see a very faint yellow tint on the 0.80 Carat H coloured stone and the size difference between roughly 0.6 and 0.8 carats was very obvious, which made me rule out the 0.57 carat.

Between the other 2, the 0.77 carat stone did seem to sparkle just a little bit more, so I am leaning toward getting that one.

As you can see above, I ran the specs of each stone through the HCA thingamajig and it backs up my thoughts regarding the 0.77 carat stone.

What I'm wondering is whether there are any potential negatives for this stone, based on the measurements etc or anything I should note/ask.

I'm no expert at this and I want to make sure I get a good stone, even if it means waiting a little longer. I'm happy to go back and ask if they can get some more in to the store for me to look at.

I need to let the sales lady know by tomorrow (Thursday) lunch, as all 3 rings are on hold at other stores and need to be sent back if I'm not going to buy them.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/suggestions/words of wisdom!

normally I would say VVS is overkill in clarity but it is the same size as the H/VS2, only $600 more, and you preferred it. I would pick that one.

ETA does your GF plan to wear a wedding band with her engagement ring? with that setting it looks like the gap would be very large...I would get a sales associate to show you how it looks.

I would also go with the “0.77 Carat, F, VVS2 - $10,900” diamond without question: best color, best HCA, more clarity than most would ever need, a decent size stone, the best value of the three (all things considered), and, from your viewing, the best performing diamond.

I see no negatives whatsoever.

I agree with the others. The F VVS .77 is the best choice of these three.

But the flush fit band issue is one I would urge you to clarify with your lady before pulling the trigger.

Thanks for the advice. I've asked the sales assistant to hold the .77 until tomorrow and look for any other options between $9000-$11000 and will also phone the online engagement ring team, who I have spoken to before, to see if they have access to any more stock.

I've considered the flush-fitting ring thing before - I know my GF loves the Embrace as we saw it in the window a while back. I checked with the lady at Tiffany and they will happily exchange the ring for another style if that turns out to be an issue for my GF.

I'd also choose the F. And many people find that they prefer rings NOT to fit flush so they don't look like one wide band!

In looking at it again, though, I think there are MUCH better designed round halo settings. I wouldn't buy this one and I love some of their other rings.
