Every Sept 11th they put up light where the towers stood as a tribute. I wish they would have this every night during September but they do this only for one night. This was taken outside my bedroom window. Notice the crescent moon that's been dancing nearby

Wow. Very cool. ::)

Very nice view!

atroop, are they going to continue that after the WTC is rebuilt? I think it's a fabulously simple and striking tribute.

I'm not sure if they will continue this tribute once the new towers are built. It would be nice if they did continue this once a yr esp. since the new towers being built aren't the same design of the old towers. The design is modern. I can tell you that we love this tribute here in NYC. You said it perfectly...it's simple and striking

Thank you for sharing this with us Atroop711. A very moving tribute, I'm so touched by this.

ETA: And the view from your bedroom is amazing!!

wow! That is beautiful! I only see this kind of view on TV...lol. What a wonderful tribute as well!

What a lovely tribute, thanks so much for sharing this with us Atroop . What a gorgeous view you have... I know this day is hard for you, but thanks for taking the time to share such a lovely pic with us... :halo:

That is a lovely tribute.

Wonderful. And a beautiful view. Interesting crescent moon...

Thanks for sharing, atroop. That is truly beautiful.

I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the picture. Every yr when they do the tribute in lights, I take a pics..I don't know why but I just do. This is the first yr that I caught the moon sneaking around.

I wasn't going to post it but my husband said it was too nice of a pic to keep to ourselves.

Have a great weekend everyone! :wavey:

That's so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

It's really beautiful and it makes me sad to know what it represents. Thank you for sharing it with us Annette. You really did have a bird's eye view.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing, A! =)

are you in the city?

No, New Jersey--15 miles from mid-town.

That is way cool, Atroop! I wish they would do away with the brick and mortal buildings and do that every night.
It is very moving in it's simplicity and says more than any solid monument could. What is missing, what is there and the
fragility of life....

yes I would love to see this light tribute more than just one night. The first few yrs they did it for about a week. I loved looking at it every night. I guess now that the construction has started, they could only do it for one night

That gave me goosebumps. What an awesome view and tribute.

My sentiments exactly.

Thank you for deciding to post this for us to see. What a beautiful and striking image. I hope they continue to do this every year on September 11th.

Thank you, Atroop, for sharing this image of the tribute. I really appreciate someone (you) taking the time to put this on PS when you knew we all had access to similar images on t.v. or online. Thank you so much. This is more precious and candid to me than any news report because it was captured and posted by one of our own. You are a very kind and generous person.

Wow...amazing view. Thank you for sharing.

Are you in a high rise to have such a spectacular view of the city? I've always dreamt of living in Manhattan and looking over the beautiful skyline!!

FuturePsyD, I'm on the 16th floor of a high rise in the East Village/Lower East Side section of Manhattan. From my bedroom and my son's bedroom you can see the high rises downtown (some wall st buildings). From my living room which faces the East River and once I walk out to my balcony I can see 3 bridges (including my favorite the brooklyn bridge..I could see one complete tower but it's enough for me). The view is great and at night the lights make it perfect. We moved to this apt from a lower floor almost a yr ago and this is where I'm staying!

atroop: you are incredibly lucky!!! manhattan skyline, buildings, bridges, river...what a dream!!!

How wonderful you recently moved up to the 16th floor! I don't blame you one bit for staying put! Enjoy your fabulous view!! And thanks again for sharing!
