Hi All,

Do you know how much you were charged to resize a LOGR ring? They want $30 to resize down to a 3. That is double of others!

A size 3 is really small...what is the starting size? Maybe they have to basically remake the ring to get it that small? It's probably more time consuming than just sizing up or down one or two sizes from their standard size, so they are going to charge a bit more. Are there diamonds on the shank? They may have to take more time and care if so. I think their 'custom' charge is $50, to make a setting...depending on how detailed the ring is, $30 may not be a bad price for what they will need to do.

From what I hear, that''s their usual rate for resizing.

It''s actually $10 to resize in most cases.

Yeah, $30 seems pretty high, but my thought is that a normal resize from, for example, a 7 to a 5 is $10, and that adding 2 more full sizes to size down to a 3 would be $10 per size?

I had them size to a 4 and it was only $10. does yours have diamonds all around the shank.. eternity style? if so, maybe thats why, my ring had diamonds only half way down.

Based on this, I think they''re just making up numbers. It says on the auction, $10 to resize. They need to stick to that.

Could it be because it''s a more complex ring? I''m just guessing.

I have 2 eternities from them, neither of which were an upcharge on sizing.

I think on his auctions he states that they will resize from a size 6 - ? for $10. I''m guessing anything smaller or bigger might cost more because of the work involved. It''s still likely to be less than you''d pay at a local jeweller AND the risk is theirs before it even gets to you in case any stones fall out etc.

LTP,
What was the size change, and is there a sizing bar in his eternities?

They just had to make new rings for my size (5), but I was only charged the $10. There''s no sizing bar.

Maybe because you lost a diamond or so in the resizing.

It is a common setting - the one that has a round halo with some diamonds down the band. Not eternity.

I am asking for less gold - shouldn''t the extra labor balance out?

For this setting, do you suggest upgrading diamonds? I know a few PSers have purchased this setting.

I would not pay $30 to resize to a 4 for that. Did you win that for a low bid on auction, perhaps he's trying to recoup $$ that way.

$112 so I guess it is a pretty good price. I will probably end up with black diamonds!

There you go, he''s upcharging you on the sizing.

To be fair to LOGR, he has charged me more in the past for sizing down to a 3.5. His auction state that he''ll resize anywhere from 5 (sometimes 6) to 10 for $10. You have to ask him about the cost for sizes that are lower or higher than that. It seems fair to me, because some rings can''t be sized that small and he would have to remake them. Also, I don''t know of any jeweler in my area who''ll resize a ring (even one size) for less than $30, so I''d just go ahead and have him do it. It seems a fair price to me.

His pricing can be goofy...I almost ordered that same setting! But decided to get the split shank, I was all set to order it for the ''buy now'' price, when it suddenly shot up about $40. I bid on an auction instead and won it for $10 more than the lesser ''buy no''w I missed out on...so he does dink around with his prices for some reason. I hope it works out for you...what are you going to put in it?

Hahaha Charmypoo....I was saying that same thing to my FI the other day as I was haggling with one of the sellers...got it for 250 less...but now I wonder what I will see. And the same styles have different buy it now prices (I notice this will all the sellers) Don't worry we will start the black chipped diamond trend in TO.

Ditto this! The split shank I recently won for my sister''s peridot ring was only ~$110 on the auction price. I can''t believe no one out bid me!

But, if you look at my latest thread in CS, you''ll see the setting turned out lovely - no black stones!

Lauren,
Stephen should give you free LOGR's for life for all the business you brought him with your pictures and great comments on PS!!

If I'm not mistaken, no one knew about LOGR on PS until you. I guess we also have you to blame for our empty pocketbooks as well - LOL!!

I think a few people knew about LOGR, but no one was speaking up, so I thought I''d help out my fellow Coloured Stoners.
