Dee*Jay & I were just dishing yesterday about "lobe surgery" (stitching up old holes??) and there''''s an article about a new "solution" today here and here ... but they are not very kind about it.

Do men write these articles?

Ack! No, no, no. Just say no!!!

Oh dear god... yet one more sign that as a society we''re doomed...

(Deco--I never did clarify yesterday, the reason I was thinking of having my holes redone was becuase they''re so low, so I was thinking if I had the holes repositioned higher I could get *bigger* studs so they wouldn''t hang below my earlobes. I guess the fact that I would even consider having *surgery* to accommodate bigger diamonds would be yet another sign that we''re doomed LOL.)

(Oh, and I think I remember; wasn''t it Just Julia who had hers recently sewn up and repierced? I can''t find the thread though.)

My, my, my, those certainly *are* snarky ... given the "us vs. them" mentality in comments along the lines of "Women sure are stupid!", I''d bet that they are written from a perspective that''s never been judged on crap like saggy earlobes or what color manicure to wear to an interview, or anything like that. That said, though, I find the concept of having someone put *more* needles to my ears in an attempt to repair the marks left by the *first* needle a little ... unpalatable. To each their own, though - this isn''t half as bad as, say, rib-removal, or last year''s only half-joking idea about removing the little toe so as to better fit those pointy-toed stilettos ....

I noticed in the comments on at least one of those articles that many gals were writing in & saying similar things! Or interested in fixing uneven holes or closing multiple holes or after babies pulled their earrings etc.

I''m waiting for the finger liposuction to catch on ... i''ll be first in line!

The links didn''t work. But I''d be interested to hear about it.

Have you seen these kids walking around with ginormous plugs in thier ears? UGH

Its awful.

It''s funny you mention that because just the other day I was thinking, geez, there will be a whole new plastic surgery specialty in a few years when these people grow up and have to close up those holes, LOL.

Hmmm. The links worked last night ... I think this subject got moved from "Hangout" to here so maybe something happened along the way. It was about injecting Restylne into your ear lobes to plump 'em up again & make earrings look better/lobes look younger. I guess its a very popular new proceedure among a certain (wealthy) set of ladies.

RE: the "plugs" ... someone commented on one of those articles that they "smell like a fine aged parmesean cheese" ...
and someone else said they smelled like "belly buttons" .... blech. Not for me!

Hey, yeah I think it was me. I did have it done on one hole, in one ear. I never went back to do any others because the result was not really "all that." It DID make the spot very very minimal (which I am thankful for), but in the right light the "dent" is still there. And it was the most holy of my holes, so now I at least feel sort of okay with the rest.
I need to go back and read those links...

I can''t get the links to work.
Anyway, the funny part of all of that ordeal, was that I saw some people who recognized me sitting in the waiting room of the plastic surgeon. I''m thinking to myself, oh man, I wonder if they wonder what I''m doing here? I wished I could blurt out, "I''m doing my earlobe holes!" not a face lift or anything.... I just wanted to evaporate.
The procedure was actually fascinating. It took an hour, and he carefully cut out each hole, with any little scar tissue, and stiched it closed on back AND front. From about 6 ft away, it has disappeared and really my dh says he can''t see anything. If you seriously wanted to close your holes and then repierce them a little higher, it might be worth it because any evidence would be covered by a larger diamond. The pain was very minimal if any.
