My little Chihuahua Lena went to the vet today and is back at home.
She had to get be sedated to get her teeth cleaned*. While under the vet found that 2 teeth needed to be extracted as they were so badly decayed. I had also asked the vet to check out one of her nipples as it looked abnormal and he decided it was best to remove it. So all in all she has had a pretty traumatic day. She came though the anaesthetic just fine and is home resting with a hot water bottle and cheek cuddles and body pats (she is still sore and I am afraid to hold her). She has to wear a head collar so she does not fiddle with her stitches and she HATES it. It has to say on for 2 whole long weeks until the stitches come out...but shhh!...I haven't told her that...yet....
We have been in and out of our lovely vet's this week as Oscar our youngest boy kitten was neutered and Henry our oldest cat cut his head in 4, yes 4, places and needed an anti inflammatory and antibiotics. All in all it has been a traumatic week for our pets but thanks to our wonderful vet all out animals are home well and safe.
Please dust little Lena along her road to recovery.
(* In case you are wondering about the terrible state of her gnashers - we adopted her only this spring from a rescue/animal home and her teeth were appalling then. She was abandoned and we are very lucky to have found her. I have been avoiding sending her under anaesthetic as she is an older dog (about 8 ish) and seems to have had a rough life. Honestly, I was worried she might not come out. The vet that spayed her was supposed to clean her teeth when she was under that first time but never did
. I had been putting it off but I am so pleased she came though. My little trooper.)
Ps. I will get pics tomorrow - I must dig out that illusive camera/pc cable.
