I don't know but-

gold
platinum
that one that's like platinum but less expensive and lighter (what's this one called? -I'm having a senior moment)
silver

The reason I ask is- what about rhodium? Is it considered a precious metal?

If not why not?

A lot of expensive jewelry is made of 18 ky gold but the surface is rhodium. In fact if you look at Cartier"s and VCA"s websites, half of what you're looking at is rhodium- they use platinum very rarely and even most of their high jewelrey pieces in white metal aren't platinum.

you're thinking of palladium

Yes palladium. Thanks.

I think "precious" has more to do with scarcity than use in jewelry. Some rare and valuable metals have mostly industrial uses, but I would still call them "precious." Rhodium definitely qualifies!

A Precious metal is a naturally occurring metallic element of high economic value. They are generally less reactive than other metals.

A Noble metal is resistant to oxidation and corrosion in damp air.

In descending atomic number:

Ruthenium (platinum group)
Rhodium (platinum group)
Palladium (platinum group)
Silver
Osmium (platinum group)
Iridium (platinum group)
Platinum (platinum group)
Gold

The above are both Precious and Noble Metals, with Silver, Gold, Palladium and Platinum being the most commonly known. There are other metals that are Noble but not Precious such as Mercury.

At one point Aluminium was considered a precious metal.

Thanks, Pandora!
