I got this spinel from Gene about a month ago. It's a 2.16 ct fancy round, 7.54 mm. It's lilac in natural light and pink in incandescent. It sparkles like crazy and I love the color!

Beautiful!!! I just got a pear shaped one just like that, and I'm picking it up from the jewelers on Tuesday. I can't wait to see what you do with that gem. I love the color!! Your photos are better than Gene's.
 
This is the setting that I'd like to get for this spinel. It's by Sholdt and I looked at it in person when I was trying to find a setting for another stone. It has millegrain and tiny channel set diamonds running down the shank. It would be in white gold.

Thanks, Sarahbear! I've looked high and low for this as well. I bought 3 others before finally finding this one. When I saw it, I moved fast! Maybe Gene has more of this rough...?

Thank you, crasru! I agree, the cut and color of this stone is gorgeous. I wish I could have it set and start wearing it sooner! I have a couple of projects ahead of this one. If only I could ease off buying stones :bigsmile:

I'm not sure how to explain it, it does have facets around the girdle but it's subtle, so yes it is round.

Chrono, it doesn't turn blue. I was trying to recall what I was wearing that day and sure enough, it was a navy top!
