Hello all! I received my .77ct H&A F SI1 GIA EX EX diamond with a Stuller Solstice setting last Friday at work. Purchased from GOG who were awesome. It looked great but I was initally disappointed in the amount of fire, brilliance, and scintilliation it showed. The overhead lighting is standard office florescent tubes. But when I took it out into the sunlight at lunch, I about blinded myself! The light return was so intense that I still saw the color rays when I closed my eyes! Anyways, is office lighting not a good light source? What other lighting conditions will create the results I had in sunlight?

Fluorescent lighting generally "flattens out" a diamond because it lacks ultra violet light 'unless' it happens to be daylight fluorescent lighting which is becoming more and more popular in office environments. Your diamond performs well in natural daylight and diffused daylight because it contains ultra violet light... This is why most jewelry stores use halogen lighting with dio-chromatic u.v. filters intended to improve the appearance of a diamond... We don't use this type of lighting in our store because we feel that people should buy their diamond under the same type of lighting that they live and work under, but we do have halogen type desk lights on all of our presentation desks so that customers can turn them on and off to see what the diamond would look like under traditional jewelery store lighting... We paid something like $35.00 a light at Staples which is an office supply store here on the West Coast. Opera lighting, theater lighting, and most restaurant lighting is also a great presentation for diamonds because it is quite often halogen type lighting...

Bandit, do you wear glasses? My wife says it maks a big difference.

No, I do not wear glasses. Neither does my GF. How would that help?
