Oh my goodness... that is the finest rainbow moonstone I've ever seen. Where on earth did you find her?!

Thanks I also think it is the best faceted rainbow moonstone i have seen in person! I got it from an IG vendor whom I have trade with multiple times. This is the same stone I have been discussing in my other thread, and Im happy that I bought it at last.

20*15mm uncerted jadeite that I need to get certified. Found it in a vintage shop in Japan!

Tried to capture the colour zoning and a bit of cotton, plus a beauty spot.

You guys are the experts, but all I see is a sumptuous, vibrant green jelly candy!! That's incredible, my friend. And I love how you're wearing her on the pointer finger. Big congrats!!

I'll take BLUE... I've run out of focal gems to show. lol But I did pick up this sapphire pair (1.65ctw) recently for a fun little project. I guess they count!

Omg I’ve been contemplating something like this!!! Are you making earrings?

I wear wigs so my ears aren’t often in full view but I’ve recently learnt to tie them up and earrings are front and centre this way.

I love this! I really should concentrate on something other than rings. lol But I always seem to go back to them. So yes, these guys are going in a ring! Everything is with DK as we speak. It's a little different for me, in terms of color story, so hopefully it turns out. We shall see. So when should we expect to see a giant purple paraiba from you, that's the real question?! :mrgreen2:

I really wish amethyst didn’t exist. It messes up purple for me. I always end up at “Don’t do this because it might just look like purple amethyst”

You're setting the red spinel, aren't you? The shape and cut fit, and the colours are definitely bold.

The red spinel is coming up, but this is for a different center stone. These sapphires complimented so many gem colors, I really had a difficult time choosing, but ultimately I feel like what I went with was the most unexpected. I should be able to share shortly!

I was thinking of you yesterday while browsing (not shopping, just looking), and saw that the NSC carries paraiba... a decent mix of Brazilian, Mozambican, untreated, heated, and even clarity enhanced stones. Lots of colors too, though only one purple that I saw (huge with pretty color, but rather included).

**scurries off to look**

I thought they only did sapphires

I love their website. They are pricier but I love the way everything is laid out on their website.

Yes, their site is SO user-friendly with a great search function! I also love working with Lauren. She is lovely. But their pricing is high... full retail +. They used to only do sapphires, then they branched out to rubies, then emeralds, and now it seems they carry all manner of fine stones!

The silver lining of this is I sometimes browse their website for comparables to my stones just so that I can say "daaaaamn, I got one hell of a deal on that baby!" Ya know, a lil' moral boost in the middle of the day when you're feeling a bit "uhg".

Omg I do that too!!!!! Or to justify certain purchases!!!

I go to the website, halve the price on whatever comparison stone, pat myself on the back and tell myself “ See! Totally a bargain! You did good!”

Once I saw they carried paraiba, I did that very thing! :lol-2:

poor old amethyst
its not helped by the mall jewlers setting them in ugly cheap silver (nothing wrong with silver but ..) settings
then crystal shops are full of crystals - you know the witchy kind of shops that give me alligies when i walk past
couple that with its lingering reputation in some royal circles as half mourning - The Late Queen once let a fantastic amethyst tiara of Queen Mary's go because she said 'we have enough tiaras" (queen Mary did wear it after her husband had died in the half mourning period) but i think HM just didnt like it

there was a time when amethyst was much revered, back when they were rear
