Hello all, Lots of talk about Leon Mege''s gorgeous rings of late and I thought I''d throw out a question for you afficionados. Can someone explain to me what the term ''mushroom set'' diamonds means? I tried Googling the term but that was of no use... came up with some interesting recipes, though!

Here is a picture of the ring in question. BTW, have any of you PS''ers who''ve gone to see the Great and Powerful Leon seen this particular ring in person? Thanks for your help!

sorry...i don''t know neither. but i love leon''s work. it''s beautiful!!! wonder how much...

Got a quote awhile back of appx. $4,200. It''s 3mm wide and has 2.10 ctw. of those delicious mushroomy diamonds.

Wow, Pyramid, that''s some ring there. I wish I could see a close up of the Leon ring prongs to compare. Thanks for the link.

I think I saw the ring yesterday, but did not look at it closely. Sorry. Just give Leon a call and ask him.

Hi Harriet, thanks for your reply. I''m hoping this eternity ring will fit with the ever popular ''skinny'' solitaire. Although I might end up wearing it on my right hand since it''s 3mm wide. By the way, can''t WAIT to see your finished ring!

i am not sure this has anything to do with the ring you refer to but i found this description: a type of jig that is shaped liked a mushroom peg. or something similar. not sure this is relevant just a thought.

You're welcome! I can't wait either. Oh, and there's a ring at Leon's that kills me.

crown1,
What's a jig?

i didn''t know myself and googled it. apparently it is a tool used in making jewelry. probably not relevant.

Thanks, anyway. Do come give me a hand with my Tsavorite design.

Crown 1, maybe you''re onto something and it''s a tool used to make a hole for the diamond to fit into the shank. Mysterious!

Do tell which ring? I LOVE THEM ALL!

It''s a 3-stone. The centre is a round (or oval) blue moonstone, and the sides are pear-cut pink sapphires.

lizard, i hope someone in the trade replies to this.

Thanks, Crown. Me, too. Now I''m intrigued. If I don''t hear anything in a few days, I will give Leon a call and ask. I hate to bother him too much since I won''t be able to pull the trigger on any rings for a few months at best.

Oh Harriet, that sounds gorgeous. BTW, am I the only one who checks Leon''s site at least daily to see if he''s posted any new beauties? I''m truly obsessed with his work!

It is. I wish he''d post a picture of it. Sorry, I don''t check his site daily.

Hi
I love it, a fantastic band. The only question I have is that it doesnt appear to have the holes (IYKWIM), on the inside of the ring to facilitate cleaning? That would concern me with all the gunk that build up around the stones, esp sunscrean etc.

Good point!
