Has anyone done this? I'm not sure if I could just drink this diet drink for 7-10 days without any food. But at the same time I feel blah after having kids and I need to restart my system.

http://www.thelemonadesite.com/lemonade-diet-recipe.html

If anyone was watching TRHWBH this was the clense Yolanda was talking about. I did a quick search online and people seem to sing it praises.

Hi Sarahbear, It sounds like the master Cleanse that Beyonce did a few times to get her weight down before shows. I looked up a couple of years ago on YouTube and watched a lot of people who went through this journey. You could start there. I didn't get to click on your link because Internet where I am is horrible, but that's what it sounds like. What I got from people on YouTube was that a lot were successful, but the time length of anything over 10 days was havoc on their mental state. Plus you have to take a laxative nightly. Maybe check there and see what you think. I am very interested in doing a cleanse and wouldn't mind doing on too, I'm just not sure if this is the one. Al Roker did one so I'm gonna check and see which one he did. He did it for 28 days and lost 28 pounds.

Thanks CO! Woa a laxative...? I will have to give it some thought. I like this one because it is easy. I don't have to go out and buy crazy stuff that I can't pronouce etc. My only issue is that I love food. I get cranky when I don't eat so this will be hard for me. But I'm also at the point where 15 months post baby and I still have 20 extra lbs to get over. I'm thinking I might start this tomorrow. I dont' think I can do 7 days but I will try for 5 days as my goal. Then perhaps 3 months from now try it again for 7 days.

Your welcome Sarahbear :) I know what you mean, my little guy is four and I've been up and down with the weight. But my goal this year is getting healthy, so hopefully weight loss comes with that. I realized having a little one has led me to neglect myself a bit because I would just grab anything to eat to keep up with him. I did a low carb diet a year or so ago which worked well. You add 25 carbs weekly until you get to your max. My DH still kept his weight loss but I had surgery and that derailed mine. I would like to lose 20 lbs too. I hope it works out for you. You should do a journal while you do it. It helped me stay focused on my goal.

If you just wanna cleanse your system, I'd personally stay away from anything that costs money or is a 'fad'.

Eliminate the allergenic food from your diet. This includes wheat (and everything glutenous) and dairy. Basically just eat fruits, veggies, whole ancient grains (like quinoa or non-glutenous rice). When I did my 'cleanse', I did eat eggs because I needed protein desperately! Meat is okay too, but stick to leaner, lighter meats. Stay away from anything with preservatives. No unhealthy snacks. Nothing packaged or processed (like absolutely nothing!). Drink more water than you ever have before. Try for at least 2 litres a day. I ate greek yogurt on my cleanse because its super high in protein, healthy fats & calories. But I'd probably avoid dairy altogether if you wanna really cleanse out your system. Swap where you'd normally have cow's milk with coconut or almond. Stay away from soy products. They just aren't good for you. Also, take a really good probiotic!

Anyway, just some suggestions. I did it successfully for 6 weeks (but a more strict cleanse - didn't have fruit or yeast or sugar of any kind). And I felt amazing afterwards. :)

Is this safe? If I don't consume real food within a 6 hour period, my body starts to shake uncontrollably.

Lin, ny, That is similar to the low carb diet my husband did and wow did we feel so much better afterwards. Dairy never really agreed with me and I would love to try the almond milk but I have been so unlucky at finding a dairy substitute so far. I wouldn't know what brand to try. My DH says I spend a ton of money on testing. LOL

Chrono, I'm like you. I can't go a long amount of time without eating something. I used to work for Jenny Craig along time ago and have gotten in the habit of eating smaller meals more often. It's the extra non healthy snacks that have done me in though.

i think i will give this a go for 3-5 days and then bring in what Lil NY suggested. I feel if I start small and work my way up I will get where I want to be. And yes I will definitely keep a journal. I think that will help alot!

THIS. Its how we should all live. I do drink cows milk in addition to soya milk and I must have porridge in the winter to survive!

If you get cranky if you don't eat, then you may have blood sugar issues and looking at the ingredients in that diet, with maple syrup, means spiking your sugar levels every time you have a drink and then probably crashing later on. I say this as a person who ALSO gets super cranky when I don't eat. I always keep a snack with me because I get anxious when I don't eat.

I think before you decide about how to loose the weight, you may need to think about something you can do permanently and enjoy. I have been looking at some raw food diets and wonder about making one snack per day raw foods - we've been sprouting raw almonds and they are SO GOOD that way! If you like food, then try and find a compromise so you're not torturing yourself.

Good luck. I'm also looking for ideas (trying to loose 10 lbs). We got a new kitchen gadget to be sure we get our veggies/fruits for the day and that is the first step I'm taking and it'll be an easy addition to our diet that can be permanent. No deprivation! ;))

Just to add, I did a low-carb, entirely whole food diet for six weeks and had more energy and felt better than I had ever in my life. I also followed the food-combining rules (fruits alone. Grains/veggies/fats. Veggies/fats/proteins.) No starches & proteins together. I've found the less carbs I eat, the more energy I have...but it's difficult with cravings!

Lin, which probiotic did you use? I have one now but haven't been taking it.

MC, Cravings were an issue for me too. I had to have some kind of treat at the end of the night. So I found this Breyers carb smart vanilla ice cream and I would cut up fresh strawberries in it and sometimes a small dab if sugar free whipped cream. But my favorite thing was to just crumble up three Oreo cookies on top after I scraped off the white yucky stuff. Idk why but I never liked the white stuff in Oreo cookies its too sweet for me.

I tried the master cleanse (lemonade diet), and couldn't get past the two-day mark, so I applaud those who can make it through the 10 days.
I think that anyone who wants to shed pounds or cleanse, has to be realistic about their life-style and food choices. I love food ---and I love to eat a lot of it, and drink wine. I'm extremely grumpy if I don't eat, and hate having to "diet." BUT...since I've gained 20 pounds over the last four years, I am at my all-time high and desperately needed to take matters into my own hands.
What it boils down to is eating the right foods, portion control, and exercise.
I've done the Atkins diet (didn't work for me), South Beath diet (totally worked for me), but decided that I would maintain a 1200 calorie diet and add some exercise back into my daily routine. Some folks might need more calories, but for my frame and level of activity, this has been working perfectly for me. Since Monday, I've lost five pounds (probably water weight), but can feel my body tightening up again. I eat five meals a day, but weigh/measure my food out. Veggies, fruit, water, brown rice, lean chicken/fish/steak/turkey, eggs/egg whties, and you can even have two pieces of dark chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth. :naughty:
A lot of my friends have had success with Weight watchers, but I can barely keep track of my finances, let alone the point system. lol
I also wanted to add that my sister has a 2 1/2 year old, and she lost quite a bit of weight chasing after him...and you will TOO!!!! :)

Don't do this. I did the Master Cleanse and ended up in the emergency room on the 3rd morning after fainting in the shower. It dehydrates you from the massive butt-peeing you'll be doing, and your blood sugar drops to nothing. My muscles deteriorated so much in just those 3 days, I was so weak for months after. My body went into shock and I had horrible tensing cramps in my calves for a week after. I wobbled everywhere I walked. :errrr:

I actually found the advertising by a supporter of the diet on another forum, and I sent the forum my emergency bill as a threat to tell them to take the diet off their boards or I will hold them responsible for my bill. It's not healthy at all, and the ER physician I saw that day said he had heard of multiple hospitalizations in the area due to the same stupid diet..

Oh yeah, and I was a TOTAL BITCH for those first few days. In fact, the 3rd morning was already going to be my "I QUIT" day. The night before, I couldn't handle my low blood sugar, and I wolfed down 2 donuts before bed. My brain was seeking anything. Even after that, I was still diarrhea-ing from the lemonade, and yeah… fainting at 5AM in the shower is not fun.

Wow Madelise, I'm glad you are ok. That is scary.

GOOD GRIEF!!! What a terrible experience! I actually did a cleanse by Dr. Natura that was very effective, but could not handle the master cleanse. btw, You totally made me laugh out loud at your experience (not the hospitalization part) cause I can totally relate!!!

That is terrible!

I am also skeptical of sending all that lemon through the body with nothing to help regulate the acidity. I remember reading how the toxins made bowel movements "burn" but, to me, it is pretty clear that it isn't toxins doing the burning. Anyone with a tendency to ulcers may also get into serious trouble.

Even if you lose weight doing a detox like this you will just gain the weight back once you start eating again? I would be wary of any diet that stops you eating food. Your body is designed to run on food and water. Take one of those out of the equation is just asking for trouble.

I have been doing weight watchers and lost a ton of weight. You need to find the right healthy eating plan and stick to it properly. Get some exercise in there too and you will be well on your way to a fitter healthier you.

DON'T DO IT!!! I did it for 6 days--my experience was nowhere near as awful as Madelise's, but it's not cool. The "butt pee" is so wrong! You drink a quart of salt water and then about 5 min later it all comes out. By about day 3 it was just totally clear. My system had nothing else in it. I didn't get terrible low blood sugar--I was able to function I just felt "hazy" and low energy. I did it with a friend and she was going for 5 mile runs while she was doing it--crazy! The worst part for me was deciding I didn't want to do it anymore and not being able to just go eat a huge meal--you have to "taper" back onto food slowly over the course of a few days: first a bit of juice, then veggie broth, then veggie soup, then solids. Otherwise you can make yourself very sick and screw up your metabolism. I have a friend who would do the master cleanse for *weeks* at a time. I have no idea how she was able to do it?!?

I think the biggest problem with the master cleanse is the lack of nutrients and the lack of diversity in what you're consuming. If you want to do a fast/cleanse there are some good juice fasts. You drink a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetable juices so you get tons of vitamins and minerals, and you take in about 1200 calories a day. I know people who swear by this--it's very easy to process, so your digestive tract can rest and heal while your body is nourished by huge amounts of vitamins and minerals. You *have* to have a good juicer, and you have to be diligent about juicing a wide variety of fruits and veg. Everything must be fresh and drank within a few hours of juicing. No bottled juices/juice "cocktail" with added sugar. You will lose weight, but most people I know have done this for the health benefits, not weight loss. I know a guy who did it because he was at his wits end with terrible acid reflux. After his juice fast his reflux was gone. He went to a mostly vegan, minimally processed diet and he feels better than when we were in high school--he looks better too!

I have to say that going days without actually eating anything is extremely challenging. Even though you are consuming a normal(ish) amount of calories, and you may not feel famished or low blood sugar, you still *want* to eat! You crave things and you really miss chewing. When I was doing the master cleanse I started having "taste hallucinations". Like, all of a sudden I would taste chocolate. It was the strangest thing!

From the experiences posted here, it sounds like the stomach bug that I did NOT want to experience. I threw up for 24 hours (not even holding down a single sip of water), then it came out the other end for 2 days straight. Even a sip of water had me running to the bathroom no less than 15 minutes later. Sure, I lost 8 pounds in less than a week and had to wean myself back into eating food but it's not an experience I would recommend undergoing willingly. It was like an invalid trying to recover; very weak, lost a lot of muscle strength from not getting any nutrients, slowly started with a cup of clear soup per day until I was finally able to eat normally a week later. I shudder to think of the high acidity in the stomach which is not tempered by any food.

If you want a healthier alternative, try Isagenix. You have a choice of a one day cleanse or consecutive day cleanses. I've used their products for years. The protein shakes help me stay on target weight and I lost 65 pounds with their system. Just like any other system, you have to be dedicated for life to making a change.

Whatever you choose to use, it won't feel good. Headache, chills, and general crappy feeling may occur during the cleanse as toxins are released and flushed from your system. Some people believe cleanses are useless gimmicks but I can truthfully say that I felt like a million bucks after I did my first one and it was the catalyst I needed to start and stick to a weight loss regimen.

Well after reading all this I think I'm just going to go buy a juicer and do a juice cleanse. While yes I want to loose weight I like the idea of a cleanse to help restart your metabolism first. Plus I just feel sluggish lately. I hear a good detox makes you feel fantastic afterwards.

I have two coworkers who swear by it, but it really doesn't seem healthy to me in the least. I would not try it.

I just did the Dr. OZ 3 day cleanse and it was great. Way cheaper than juice fasts like blueprint or juice generation, etc. I honestly wasn't hungry and I had no intestinal issues. I now have the flu and am still drinking the smoothies b/c I just don't have the energy to try and eat something right now

The breakfast and dinner smoothies are really good (i replaced mango with pineapple b/c I am allergic to mango.)

I wasn't brave enough to try the lunch smoothie so I ate all the components separately (I am fine with kale or spinach in smoothies, but just can't get down with drinking cucumber or celery...)

http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/dr-ozs-3-day-detox-cleanse-one-sheet

He also has a 2 day cleanse that uses foods....

I liked the smoothies b/c they fill you up more and you don't get that awful sloshy feeling like you do on a juice fast...

That lemonade cleanse sounds terrifying - it can't possibly be good for you

I'll admit, I don't "get" juice diets - why not just eat the fruit/veggies you're juicing? You get all the nutrients plus the fibre, and you get to actually *eat* - seems like a win-win!
I'll do 24hr fruit&water-only stints a handful of times a year - even when I'm being good about working out I plateau, and it shocks the system into waking up and paying attention. Seems to work pretty well, and hasn't done any damage.

My dad's wife swears by Isagenix too. She has never been overweight, but she was having a hard time staying at her goal weight, so she started Isagenix. She loves it--says she feels great and has stuck to it for several years.

Ditto the above. Less work too and cleanup too.

If the juice fast is the what you choose...

I think she is adorable--she just radiates beauty and positivity and had a great experience with her juice fast. I liked watching her videos, i thought maybe you'd like to watch some. She made a life change into a mostly raw mostly vegan diet:

Also, this is the diet that my friend credits with curing his reflux:

And it's suggested that you follow juice/smoothie recipes from a recipe book or online to keep you on track--which makes sense to me:

I think you can eat the fruit and veg in most cases--or make a smoothie from it, but the purpose of juicing is that you get megadoses of vitamins and minerals--it wouldn't be possible to eat all of the whole foods you need to get all those vitamins and minerals.

Check out the ketogenic diet. I have been on it since Christmas and it is going great! I have never felt better! My DH has lost 10 lbs and he's been on it just over a month, so it's not just water weight.

The best part is that when I eat the right proportions I don't get that extreme hunger that I did on a higher carb diet---huge bonus for me as my stomach is very growly when I get that lol.
