Just do a search on here for the following and you will have plenty of reading material to learn from:

antique stones
antique cuts
OECs
OMCs
Transitional Cuts

That should get you going for a bit! Within all those threads there are plenty of information on the different types of stones, cut patterns, dealers, etc. Happy Reading!
