So I''m going to pick up the e-ring from the Jewelers today. So just wondering if anybody had any last minute advice on what I should have/get/have gotten with the ring/diamond.

(1) They are sending the brilliance report from the place that prepares them, so hopefully that''s there today.
(2) Already took care of insurance on it.....
(3) Already received the warranty card.... (and registered it online)

(4) Am I supposed to get any other certificates/certifications? (GIA, H&A, etc.)
(5) Does the diamond have it''s own "certification #", or how does that work.

Guess I should''ve asked these before I ordered it huh?

Wish me luck, and any advice, last minute thoughts, tips, will all be appreciated!

THANKS!

If there is a GIA (or any other) certification, then you should get the original copy upon picking up the ring. Some GIA diamonds do have the # inscribed on it...it probably would''ve been better to ask this before mounting, but the certificate will state whether the inscription has been done. If so, you can ask the jeweler to show you the inscription through a loupe, so you''ll know it''s the diamond you''ve purchased.

Good luck! Can''t wait to see the pix!!

So what if the number is not on it, it''s pretty much too late to have it inscribed on there.

I thought of that the other day.... How do I know they put the diamond I picked out into the ring.

But I should be able to tell, as I stared at it for like 1/2 hour, trying to decide if I wanted a different one. I think I know exaclty what the inclusion looks like, and should be able to spot it instantly (w/ a loupe obviously). It was a very distinct, odd, inclusion.

I would hope that respectible jewelery stores would not stoop that low as to change diamonds in rings. I mean, they''re making enough the way it is, right?

So I should get a GIA report? That''s different that the "Brilliance Report"? They did infact state that I would be getting a "Brialliance Report."

I guess we''ll see tonight!

Thanks!

My GIA certed diamond is not inscribed, but the inclusions are plotted on the certificate. I had my jeweler show me under a loupe how the inclusions matched up with my certificate. This helped me be able to identify my stone...I don''t plan to bring my ring (for repairs, adjustments, future cleanings, etc) to any other jeweler but this one, so they know I have the certificate to go with it...

To get it inscribed and or certed (if it isn''t already), it needs to be a loose stone, sent to the GIA lab and takes about 6 weeks, if I''m not mistaken?!

At this point, it''s already mounted..if it''s not a certed stone, the best you can do is go to an independent appraiser and make sure that the ring is at least what you wanted and paid for...

You''re right in that respectable stores would (hopefully) not change the stones for fear that their business will be ruined if they try...

Good luck!
