Does anyone have any experience with Laser Skin Resurfacing. If so, did it turn out like you expected? Any suggestions or regrets?

I have been thinking about it but have olive skin tone and I''m afraid of hyperpigmentation (I''ve seen frightening pictures online).

I would like to get it to reduce my acne scars.

I've had a few rounds of Fraxel and love it. My skin is fairly clear to begin with, but I did have a few old acne spots and wanted a 'rejuvenation'. The whole process took a little over an hour and had VERY minimal downtime. You don't really start to see its effect for a few weeks, and a few months to see its true effect. Depending on the condition of your skin, they usually suggest 4-5 treatments and treatments vary in price ($400-$1500 per treatment depending on where you live - I'm assuming you're in NY?). It's safe for all skin tones/types.

I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Honeybuns advice sounds encourageing. Since she has experience and is so happy with it that is great that you got someone who has actually done the procedure. So if you decide to continue that is great.

I would make an appointment and allow the derm to go over all your options. There are less expensive alternatives that may suit your skin and the results you hope to achieve with only $60 to $80 every month or so depending on your age.

Chemical peels like salicitic acid, glycolic, and others that are available (if you do still have acne...these help to treat it). Dermabrasion may be used. There are creams and lotions that can fade spots. With these you can actually sometimes get a faster cheaper result depending on again...what you hope to achieve.

I just wanted to make sure you knew that the one procedure you named isn''t all you have to choose from. HoneyBun sure loves it though! Some techniques are available that 3 visits a year at $60 is all it may take. Just make an appointment...oh, if the office is pushing only one expensive technique, go to another one. They may have the latest greatest BUZZ WORD machine and need to help pay for it. (and may need the staff to gain experience).

PS...People are too trusting in a doctors office...but truly you need to realize they are salesmen just like the rest of them. So if ONLY one expensive procedure is offered...and you feel pressured...you may be wise to seek another opinion.

Yes, I do.

I had Dot C02 Fractional laser treatment on my upper and lower eyes. I had saggy eyelids and furrows beneath my eyes. So I can''t help you in terms of treating the rest of my face. A friend of a friend has just undergone the same treatment on her whole face. I''ll see if she is willing to post some updates.

What I do know is that there are several different types of laser treatment and they all do things differently.

Here are some links that I found informative:
Medical Spa Doctors forum talking about various laser treatments. This is not a consumer site.

Thank you for responding. I have been doing internet research and will look into the links you posted. Were you happy with the results? Did it take a while to notice or was it obvious right away? Was it painful?

I have deep scarring on my checks and I don''t think microdemabrasion will cut it. I don''t expect to have flawless skin after the procedure but definitely smoother skin would be REALLY nice.
