Hi, we just got a H&A 1.11 ct RB diamond which comes with a AGS certificate. It states that the diamond has a incription on the girdle. I got a 30x loupe but couldn't find it. How many power for the loupe do you usually need in order to see the incription? Is it normal that you can't see it even with 30x loupe? Thanks for all inputs.

Should see it!!!!
Wow!

I can see mine w/a 10x loupe.

where did you get the loupe? i got one on amazon.com that claims to be 30x but is not...

Well, I got it from ebay and it's a cheap one from HK :(.

Laser inscriptions are black when first done but usually and up white / colorless and become much harder to see.
A decent 10x loupe is usually enough to at least identify some or all of the characters

It may help to get the lighting position just right.
Try moving 3 things, yourself, the stone and the light source.
Keep moving till you see it.

For me I can clearly see it with a 10x loupe, but if the light is not just right it vanishes.

At 30x (at least while it's black, per Garry's post), it should be not only visible but readable.

My stone with AGS Cert dated August 2010 requires a jeweler microscope to see the inscription. I couldn't find it with a 10x loupe either.
