Laser drilling

I have been lurking in pricescope for about a month now and I have to say that I am addicted!!! I am in the market for a loose stone and have been considering buying a laser drilled stone for budget reasons...I have been doing some research in pricescope and laser drilled diamonds dont sound like such a bad thing, especially for someone like me who would like a larger stone but doesnt mind a few inclusions as long as the stone faces up clear and looks good to the naked eye. My question is, does anyone know of any diamond vendors that sell G.I.A certified laser drilled stones (not filled of course). I have been looking online without much luck (only finding EGL cert. stones) and was hoping that some of you wonderful people here at pricescope might be able to help....Thanks again to everyone for giving so much help to us novice diamond lovers

I am not sure GIA issues certs for laser drilled stones... but I could be wrong. As far as I know, Good Old Gold may procure such stones upon request.

The GIA does not grade clairty enhanced diamonds which have been fracture filled including laser drilling but does indeed grade laser drilled diamonds..

Im pretty sure GIA grades laser drilled diamonds that have NOT been filled....That is pretty much the only reason I am considering a laser drilled diamond because most people in pricescope say they are one of the best....my problem is that I have only really been able to find EGL cert. laser drilled diamonds and im not sure if I trust EGL certs. Im no expert but I have heard that EGL can be iffy on their grading standards. Are there any good E-vendors for G.I.A. laser drilled stones? Or should I find a reputable jeweler who can track one down for me? any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks for all your responses!

Aside the one mentioned, no idea.

One thing you may want to take into account is that laser drilling is applied alone, without further clarity enhancement, les sfrequently. This is only done for stones with colored inclusions, otherwise the drilling would only add one more 'inclusion'.

you have to be careful with laser drilled diamonds. I was told they can shatter easily under steam cleaing.
