Ladies, We NEED Your Neck Shots!

Okay, I think we need everybody to put their neck shots in one reference thread, so that we can all judge pearl size as it sits on the neck.

This will be a big help to people trying to buy over the net, and it will help everyone visualize different sizes and lengths. Please note the size of your pearls and the length of the strand.

I'll start with the my one lousy neck shot.

ONE RULE: No fair counting the wrinkles on the neck of us older posters. . .

10-12 MM, 18 inch strand,

The size of your neck circumference also makes a difference. A 10mm strand with 18" length hangs differently on different sized necks. But if you do not wish to disclose that is fine too.

Multi-color drop strand, 17.25", 9-11mm. This shot did not have the right lighting to bring out the colors of this strand.

Double strand of multi-color, oval FW. Probably around 17" and 18.5", pearls are 8.5-9.5mm.

Good idea Ilander! These are 18 inch 9mm pearls and lets just say I am at the other end of the spectrum from your size 4.

the tahitians with south sea strand... from the year of the rampage

silvery greys, multi color and pistachios and south sea strand..

the rampage continues... the south seas, goldens and tahitians, the big ones are ringed, but oh so large and fabulous,

smaller are AA, can't tell size of big ones- got them from antique shop, but smaller are 9-11mm.

Is there any way we can get the mm sizes and length so that people can use them for size reference? If not mm, inch size of the biggest pearl is also helpful.

Catherine Cardellini dyed black freshwater pearls, 18" strand, 7mm x 5 mm off-round pearls. I like the nice metallic sheen and they go well with the bright colors and black suits I often wear.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say NOT to sticky this thread.

Many threads already have neck shots, and really I don't think these are that helpful to determine the length of a necklace. Neck sizes, pearl sizes... It all changes for everyone. If anything we have a "show me your pearls thread" they could be added to.

These are CushionCutNut's pearls from Catherine. Both strands are 9-12 mm pearls, I think they are 16 and 18 inches in length.

The lavender pearls are from Catherine, 31 inches, 8mm pearls

Baroque Tahitians strand varies, largest is 10 x13.5, med size is 9 to 11mm.

This is the same strand of pearls that I have owned for 38 years. I never wore the original 16 inch strand, so I asked my jeweler to make it into an 18 inch strand. The pearls are about 7 mm akoyas, with an additional 8 pearls added and restrung.

Very good example of 16 versus 18 inch strand, nice! I prefer the 18 inch myself, I always feel like I'm choking in a 16. I think a 16 chain is not too bad, but 16 in pearls is different, since there is so much bulk to the pearls themselves. They take up precious room, that my neck needs!

This is justginger's 18.5 inch strand from Catherine Cardellini. GORGEOUS!

The pearls are 8.3 to 9.3 in the front, and justginger is a size 0-2.

So if you are a smaller person, smaller pearls can still have a big impact on you!

exactly, and a 6mm pearl will feel different from a 9mm and that will feel different from a 11mm..

I think it's probably more of an issue with bracelets though.
