I have an amazing story about my local Riddle’s Jewelry.
Last summer I bought a loose oval 5 x 7 merelani mint garnet and went to the mall looking for a pendant on sale that would hold my new gemstone.
I found one I really liked, very simple with a tear drop shape around the stone and a diamond accent. After the sale price the pendant cost about $69 and came with a created sapphire in it. They charged me $25 to mount the mint garnet in the pendant.
The first time I wore the pendant the box chain broke and I lost the pendant. I retraced my steps and couldn’t find the pendant. I took the broken chain to the store and showed it to the manager figuring best case scenario they will fix the chain. He looked at the chain and said he could see where there was a flaw in the link and that is why it broke. He asked me a few questions and was hesitant at first but wrote up a repair slip to replace the pendant and the garnet. The receipt said no charge and had a pick up date for the next week.
About 3 days later I notice that manager is working at a different jewelry store which made me pretty nervous about what would happen about my pendant. The next week I go in and ask about my replacement pendant and they don’t know a thing. I show them my receipt; they look it up and find it in the system but also found none of it had actually been ordered. They said the store manager would call me. She called me the next day and asked me my story. She said she would take care of it. I have bought several things in their store over the years so I am sure that is part of the reason she agreed to do it.
As the weeks and months went by I’d stop by every few weeks and ask if there was any word on the pendant yet. They were having trouble finding a mint garnet. I recently told her they could find a comparable carat weight mint garnet in a different shape and we could pick out a different pendant.
Last week I finally decided to just go ask for my money back for the pendant and see if they will reimburse me any of the money I paid for the lost gemstone. I walk in and the manager greats me with the news my gemstone was in and she was just waiting to have her jeweler mount it.
I picked up my finished pendant tonight.I told her I really appreciate her making this right. I will definitely give their store a chance for my business in the future.
