Hi everyone! I've learned so much from this amazing site :))
My 10 yr. Anniversary is coming up & I'm getting an upgrade :appl:
I've loved cushions for years & finally started looking into them about a month ago. I love the older style (antique?) & I found this 1 ct. 8 main (chunky facets) cushion brilliant. Can y'all give me opinions on this one? Please and thank you ;))

I think it's got IMMENSE potential. Seriously gorgeous SO FAR. Can the vendor get you an ASET?

Thanks for the quick reply Gypsy! I was told that at this time, they don't have the ability to produce ASETs on fancy cuts.. only RB. I looked around on PS and others have said the same about the vendor. I was sent a "sparkle" video and it looks beautiful (to my untrained eye). Are we not allowed to post videos here? May be a silly question.. can't say I've seen any.

Yes you can post videos.

How is their return policy?

And where are you located? Maybe we can find an appraiser you can visit for an ASET, since you need an appraisal eventually anyway. :wavey:

The numbers look fine. The one picture - I don't think it looks that good. Looks more splintery than I would have expected and the facets aren't crisp.

Gypsy- the vendor has a 30-day return policy. The gemologist got back to me this morning answering some of my questions. Here is what she said:

"I absolutely love this particular cushion diamond that you are considering. It's an antique cushion so it's very unique and the overall appearance (facets/cut style) is just stunning. I would highly recommend this diamond. The color "I" is that in between color grade that if you go below it, for example "J", "K" or "L" you may start to notice a hint of a color. However, with an "I" graded diamond, if there is any hint of color, it will be super faint and hardly noticeable unless put side by side with a colorless diamond. There is hardly any visible color in an "I" graded diamond. A symmetry grade of "good" or "very good" is very common in all the fancy shapes, such as a cushion, since there is so many variations to how they are cut, unlike round diamonds. So I'm not super concerned with that particular grade. This diamond does have an excellent amount of sparkle and brilliance and great overall light performance. Regarding the inclusions, the only inclusion in this diamond is a feather, but it will be a super minute inclusion, extremely difficult to spot even even under 10x magnification.

Overall, I think this is a gorgeous cushion diamond and a great price as well. I would feel very confident in recommending this stone. I would most certainly purchase it for myself. I think it's absolutely stunning"

I have to say, her reply made me smile. I think I've found a winner

In regards to an appraisal- the setting I'm leaning towards is through James Allen. You can send them your diamond and they will set and prepare an insurance appraisal for only $150. This sounds like a great deal to me.. Hopefully I'm right?

In the videos I saw of the diamond, it didn't appear to have a very splintery look. I hope not at least. If for some reason I find I don't like it, I can always return. I think I'm going to give it a shot though :twirl:

I appreciate everyone's input!

Since the sparkle video won't post , I took some snap shots. A picture of a video clip.. HORRIBLE quality.. But better than nothing! If you can get past the glare, you can see some fire going on  (These don't do it justice.. Just saying!)

Oh. It looks fabulous. And I LOVE THAT IT HAS NO HALO! Thank you for not putting a halo around that beauty!

It looks great you on too. :appl:

Thank you! I can't stop looking at it
And nooo, no halo.. Not my cup of tea!
I was worried 1 ct might feel too small, but I think it's just the right size for me =)
I wound up going with a Ritani setting & after lots of reading decided to give palladium a try.. Hope it holds up okay!
