So I''m pretty much set on a TIffany Legacy ring and with the budget my boyfriend set for me I can get about a 1.2-1.5 carat center stone. I mentioned to a friend that I had hoped for a 2 carat but we just bought a house so I''m okay with the 1.5. She suggested I get a replica made. Isn''t that basically buying a knock off? I am completly against buying knock offs or "inspired by" purses or shoes, it''s just flat out tacky. Isn''t it the same thing? I''ve seen so many Cartier, Harry WInston and Tiffany "inspired'' rings out there.

What are your opinions?

If the idea offends you, then it doesn''t sound like you would want it anyway.

There are plenty of other rings similar to the legacy without the "knock off" connotation.

you can buy designer branded ready-to-wear, or you can buy couture.

honestly, i've not seen an incredible replica of the legacy. if you want something similar, finding a jeweler to create it is fine, if you want exact...buy the real thing...

also, the legacy stone is a patented cut, so no one can reproduce that. if you like the cut, you'll have to buy the real deal!!

I personally wouldn''t buy something that''s been copied to the T but I would buy something that was similar. When I was looking around for rings similar to the Lucida, most of the settings were quite similar but had some things different so that''s why I went straight to Tiffanys and just bought the real thing. If you are happy with the 1.2-1.5 (I was in the same position), then go with the real deal.
