how should an AGS Ideal cut diamond look under normal light?.......i havent seen it in sunlight cuz i just picked it up from the jewellers. At home it looks great in that it is soooooooooooooooooooo white. I dont see the sparkle unless it is under direct light. is this normal? any advice would be great. Love the diamond just wondering how it should perform in regular lighting. if i look at it under a pot light then i can see the sparkle. here are the specs of my diamond:

Check out this thread: Diamonds & Lighting

Also do a search on "Lighting" and you'll see many prior threads on this topic.

I am not an expert but a well cut diamond (as an AGS 0 should be, presumably) should sparkle in most lighting. Direct sunlight can "blind" a diamond and make it look a little less sparkly. Perhaps some epxerts can chime in. in the meantime, keepr eading (and make sure your ring is clean! a film on the pavillion can hinder performance).

AJ:

You are proposing on Friday and I think it''s your nerves. I have looked at the numbers on your stone and you have picked a winner. Diamonds look different in diff. types of lighting. The post Jenn points out is a good one..

Concentrate on the task at hand

and know everything is going to work out. She will love the diamond and compared with many other diamonds it has very ideal proportions so you are in a small percent of conciencious diamond buyers out there who want the very best for their sweety.

When you get a chance Friday or Saturday let us know how your soon to be

Put a pair of sunglasses on when you take it in the sunlight tomorrow...
