Kind of Overly Dramatic Cake Frosting Thread

So, I meant to get crisco for some frosting for a birthday cake frosting. I failed to do that.

Now, in a last ditch effort to salvage a baking disaster I'm going to attempt a chocolate cream cheese frosting as a back up. Do you think hot cocoa mix will make a good flavoring or should i just use cocoa powder and a tad more sugar?

End over dramatics.

Cocoa powder. The hot cocoa mix will mix entirely differently and you may not get the desired consistency.

True! I have no idea what they put in hot cocoa mix anyways, at least I know cocoa powder only has cocoa! Thank you DF, you saved a package of cream cheese!

(Side note: DF are my initials, so I take this as a sign from the frosting gods-that-be to not use hot cocoa mix)

LMAO!! That's funny!

I wish I could master frosting. Mine is always runny, and melts upon contact of anything. The only successful one I had was to use strawberry cream cheese with TONS of confectioner's sugar.

This is the second time I've made cream cheese frosting, the first time I didn't use enough sugar and it was a tad runny. This time was perfect!

I used 8 ounces Neufchatel, 1/4 cup of butter, 2 1/3 cup powdered sugar and 6 tbsp cocoa. Tasted just like chocolate frozen yogurt

Except, after I had written the message on the cake, I decided it looked like someone had written it in poo (Lookin' at the poop mistress on this one!)

NO hot cocoa mix!!! Chocolate cream cheese frosting is seriously yummy - yeah add cocoa powder and sugar... but cocoa mix typically has other things in it like dehydrated milk and other things that I just wouldn't not wanti n frosting.

ETA I probably shouldn't admit this but I thought the same thing about the letters lol How about we just say "not enough contrast/scintillation" lol I want to dip my finger in the side though, looks yummy!!
