I notice when doing a search on pricescope, when clicking through to white flash it lists ''pricescope price'' and ''pricescope wire price''.

How do you get these discounts on their site? Do you just need a pricescope login or something?
You call and say "I am on PS, give me the discount please!"

icetea,
I dont know if you decided or not but I would not do a necklace for an engagment diamond. She will not be able to admire it unless she
is looking in a mirror. Not that it matters but I think other people will find it odd that it is in a necklace than on her left hand ring finger.

Now if she had asked for you to put it in a necklace that would be A-OK with me. But she has not asked for this and I think it could
be an unwelcomed surprise. Thats my 2 cents.

Please dont take offence TotalNewbie. Your necklace is stunning and I love the story...I just dont think its a good idea unless he talks to her
about it first.

I think H color is a sweet spot--still white looking, but less $ than a G. You should be able to get a nice sized H SI1/SI2 with your budget. I know a few people who have I color, and their diamonds also still look very white to me.

After thinking about this a bit more, I''ve decided not to do the necklace. I do love the story, but I know how much she loves staring at the last ring I bought for her. She has a ton of necklages I''ve boughten for her but she loves her ring the most because she can stare at it all day (rather than being productive I can only assume

). What I wiill likely do is try and get something that can be reset with another stone or more interesting to me, incorporated into a necklace later on that contains the ''original'' engagement setting. All things considered, this will yield what I consider a similar sweet story, since she will have the emotional attachment to the original piece but get to talk about how we got to choose one together. She''ll love it.

I''m hoping that a H may suffice along with an SI1, from everything I''ve read on here I''m just worried that dropping down may sacrifice the side view which I stilll need to be perfect. Based on my plans and a few life changes over the past few days, I may extend my budget a bit as well if the need calls for it back up to the $10,000 mark and I will still be able to do it fairly soon (end of summer).

I really think that H SI will be fine for you. It would be for me and I like high colored stones a lot! But H is very colorless. Unless you or your gf have a preconceived notion about color, H will be fine.

I am far from an expert, but like you, I have used the wisdom of the Pricescope community to pick out an engagement ring for my partner. I went with a 1 carat, ideal cut, H color, SI2 diamond and I couldn''t be happier. It''s absolutely beautiful. It is completely eye clean and it not yellow at all. If I have learned anything from Pricescope, it is that CUT is key. My H color diamond is in a 6 prong tiffany setting and it still looks white from the sides.

Also, most vendors have a return policy so if you don''t like the diamond, you can always return it.

That makes me feel much much better, and I''m sure when I get into a B&M (hopefully within the next week) I''ll be completely comfortable knowing that these are fine as long as I can find one that''s eye clean.

I''ll likely end up going the online route with WF or BGD (with everything I''ve seen here, I''d love to start working with one of them for all my future pieces) and as happy as all you pricescopers are with their services, I''m sure I''ll have no problem working with someone who can find me exactly what I want.

Thanks all!

Let us know what you think when you see some diamonds!

Hello again! I decided to hit up EE Robins (local stores, 3 in the Seattle area, I went to the Bellevue one) to see loose diamonds. I saw a few others that MIGHT have loose diamonds but were closed today that I may check out at a later date. The store has a huge selection of bridal jewelry (more than any other store I''ve been to anyway) which was very nice. All of their pieces are set with cubic zirconias that are on the floor as they have all their loose diamonds in back.

The lady first showed me 5 stones, across all critera, from VS2 to I2, D-I, .5 to 1.5 carats. I took a stab at figuring out the stone colors and was able to get it fairly quickly but not immediately. I then had her bring out 5 in the 1 - 1.5 range to try and compare the color more closely.

All in all, I think the F-Gs are still beautiful and I don''t think the slight yellow detracts at all from the diamond, so I''d be more than happy to get something in that range. I did love the larger ones so I''d like to get as big as possible but I still want eye clean from the top. I don''t think I saw any eye clean stones, but I''m not worried about that since it''s not a concern of mine until I''m dealing with the person who''s finding me the perfect diamond.

The prices of two stones I was looking at:

1.32 F SI1 $12595 GIA
1.16 H I1 $4595 (don''t recall the cert, not GIA tho)

This seemed HIGH considering I think the top $13 grand one should cost roughly $5-7 grand when doing a comparitive search online.

Anyone know what GCAL is? She said they ''grade the toughest''.

How about something like this for the setting? It''s romantic but glove-friendly. I''m gotten sholdt quotes from Dimend Scaasi and even for custom it was REALLY reasonable.

If you get her a temporary setting that sits high, tiffany sells this necklace that has a little O ring with an invisible clasp that opens up for charms. I put my ring on there when I''m doing work and don''t want to mess them up. The necklace was only $90. I don''t see it on their website but I bought it in the store just a few month ago. Someone had a thread on it here that inspired me to get it. I think they wore gloves at work too.

Both of the those look nice. Not sure on the setting price, might be < $250 in which case it''ll all be the diamond and still trying to figure out my exact budget. I''m trying to nail down a good date for the whole thing and that will give me the final total here soon to figure out how much more I can scrounge together.

What is the best way to get a hold of BGD / WhiteFlash? Is emailing more efficient for them initially or giving them a call? I sent a message to BGD this past week and got a response back from Denise, but I haven''t heard back since Tuesday when I sent a reply.

I''m not sure how much turn around time people tend to get from these places.

Just call them.
