Khalil Mahmoud

I too find the murdering of journalists and aid workers extremely distressing. WCK was targeted multiple times, multiple people killed. People who were just trying to feed starving people and children. They do such amazing work, to be picked off like ants on a log is awful. Add it to the list of war crimes they’re committing I guess.

Recent reports note a significant shift in former allie’s allegiances. The world seems to be rapidly waking up to said war crimes, despite efforts to blockade and murder journalists there to cover what’s happening in Gaza.

Is this true @missy? If so it doesn't speak well for the government; if not, why is Haaretz publishing lies? I don't know anything about the political leaning of the paper, only that google says it's the longest running still in print.

The idf is not admitting responsibility for these, but at least they are “investigating” it. It’s considered (another) war crime.

176 journalists murdered in Gaza apparently. Just for trying to spread word of the injustices being committed against them.
400 aid workers, murdered, for trying to help people.
1300 health care workers, murdered, for trying to save Palestinian lives.
These aren’t accidental. Brushing it off as “war is messy” is not right.

It is important that we put aside our black and white thinking. It is not the case that if one condemns Hamas, he has to approve of everything Israel does without any ifs or buts. And it is not the case that if one criticises Israel, she automatically sides with Hamas. It must be possible to strongly condemn Hamas and at the same time question and critically scrutinise the actions of the Israeli government. I would like to see more empathy - for the feelings of our Jewish fellow human beings, who have suffered enough, God knows, and for the current immeasurable suffering of the Palestinians.

Very wise words @nala regarding hatred and anger.

I read a really astute quote last night.

“There’s typically a right side of history and a wrong side of history. If you ever wonder which side you’re on, the right side is usually there one where you’re siding with a disenfranchised group of people who are being terrorized by a military power.”

This can apply to what’s currently happening in our streets here in the USA, and where our country is choosing to send aid and bombs.

I am not aware of anything happening in the streets in the USA other than the effort for US citizens to be protected, border security, entry through immigration process and the precision removal of a nuclear war threat with NO deaths incurred in that world saving effort.

The contortions of what is actually happening and what is being postulated by the antagonists as reality is amazing.

If you’re not aware that
1. Immigrants have rights when they come to this country (whether you want them to or not)

2. People are being kidnapped by masked agents who won’t identify themselves, zip tied, and thrown into strange vehicles

3. People are being deported without due process

Then I don’t know what to tell you? But yes, the cognitive dissonance, mental gymnastics, and twisting of reality is quite amazing.

@missy i feel sorry for you. I think you assume that no one here acknowledged 10/7 and so you are on a vendetta. We did. We know. We just can’t do much about it but Israel has been avenging every victim. Be at ease.
I don’t know how to help you. But I promise you, neither does the current administration. Please don’t trust them. Wake up and realize that all the hatred you are spewing is not going to help your cause. Hatred makes a person bitter. And the current administration is just using you. They will turn on you. They are only loyal to themselves.

I don't think Missy needs pity, I think she needs to be heard since there is a glossing over of facts which, unfortunately, are true. There is no vendetta in providing the details for which others intimate, "keep walking, there is nothing to see here..".

"The current administration" is not going to turn on or use anyone and has made many inroads and efforts to return peace to our world. That scare tactic hyperbole is frustrating and not relative to the situation.

Many before have tried to stop the advance of nuclear weapons in that arena, most people are grateful those nuclear efforts have been blunted and, hopefully, blocked for good. Look at the number of former administrations which have reiterated the same statement, that country must not have nuclear weapon capability under any circumstances.

Immigration rights are afforded to people who have applied for that status and have been fully vetted. Illegals broke the law crossing the border without US permission, they already have broken our laws, what can due process change? The due process afforded them is to be removed from the country if they are here illegally. Have you ever traveled south of the border, advised them you and millions of people you brought with you are now living there now and they can't do anything about it? Good luck with that.

I fully support legal immigration, an orderly entrance into our country to become citizens and not overwhelming the system that is here. I wonder how many of the low income and poor citizens here would have much more support from our country if we didn't have to shell out billions of dollars for illegals who have crushed the support system.

@missy, You posted pictures of the two beautiful Bibas children who were murdered. Any person with a heart feels terrible for these children and their family.

There were 29 innocent Israeli children murdered.
There were 19,000 innocent Palestinian children murdered.

How on earth do you these look at the sheer numbers of innocent children who have been murdered and not see a stark contrast. How this war started was horrific. The casualties to innocent children regardless of where they live is just as horrific. You have not shown an ounce of empathy or compassion for these innocent Palestinian children. It sickens me. You bring up these two Israeli children all the time. These two children are no more special than all the other innocent children who have lost their lives in this war, yet in your mind they are.

From the looks of it Israel wants everyone in Palestine dead or gone from their country. That’s genocide.

I need to know if you are actually not aware that anyone who sets foot on American soil (whether vetted, in the process of applying for status, or just showed up here) has certain Constitutional rights.

Eyes Wide Shut.

Why are you here? You stated yesterday you do not like these threads and want them shut down.

Can you provide the statistics in that number for the murdered children in Palestine who were murdered by Hamas?

War is horrific, that is why there was an urgent effort to stop it completely and not to linger on with the support of a nation who wants all Israelians dead.

Let me understand this correctly, you want the US to have a trial for every single illegal alien who has crossed our border and then, of course, their appeals. Seriously? There aren't enough attorneys in the world for that process.

Perhaps we need a Consitutional Amendment removing the rights in America for illegal entrants with no grandfathering clause, if that is the best we can do to return sanity to this country.

What are you even talking about? I’m talking about basic Constitutional rights, which ALREADY EXIST, and it doesn’t seem as though you are aware of this.

Of course these people have rights! In a democratic constitutional state, that goes without saying.

@Sunrises Sunsets, This information is all over from many sources. Google is your friend. I believe the source I used was Associated Press (AP). A credible news source. I only read credible news sources.

Calliecake, I don't like being here one bit. But this forum is being used to promote a distorted picture of the current world situation and it is concerning.

This is what happens when these threads are allowed, "Why are you here?". We have many citizens of other nations reading this forum and they need the full picture of how Americans feel about their country.

I have no agenda against you but I cannot stand by and watch these statements without rebuttal. If this discussion was taken to a forum hellbent on political discussions only, I wouldn't be on it. It would include all angles of the discussion from both sides but many remain silent here as they disagree with the picture being promoted because they also hate political discussions.

Can we please try not to get too emotional in our postings. People want these threads shut down. I’m not trying to be a net nanny. I just want us to be allowed to continue these discussions.

@OreoRosies86 Please see my post above to Sunrise Sunsets (post number #612). When someone is saying these threads don’t interest them and they don’t want them here, it’s a pretty safe bet she is trying to get this thread shut down.

That is not a fair assessment.

Probably, but hopefully it won’t be shut down. Because this is a HUGE reason why there are so many people running roughshod all over the principles this country was founded on. People who never had to take the most basic history class, or ever learned the basics of Constitutional law, are not only those with the loudest opinion, but some of them are actually actively working in government :wall:

I agree with you and I'm signing off. I think it's important for everyone to know that we all don't have the same impressions of current affairs and may peace come to the world.

That's a mighty big generally.

I mean, it’s really not. People who come here have rights. You can either learn what those rights are, or you can continue to pretend they don’t exist.

We are all adults here. The wonderful thing about this forum is they have different topics to attract many people. If you don’t like the thread please find a topic you enjoy. We are sharing opinions here. State yours if you wish. No one is trying to silence you here. All opinions are welcome in these threads. You have the option of putting posters who annoy you on ignore.

We all have different life experiences and those experiences shape our opinions. I feel it’s helpful to try to understand others point of view even if they are different from my own.

For the record before I leave:

AI:
:Based on reports, there have been a high number of child casualties in the ongoing conflict in Gaza
.
  • Hamas has stated that around 19,000 children were killed in Gaza since October 2023.
It's important to acknowledge that the casualty numbers are reported by various sources and there can be discrepancies between them. Attributing specific deaths to one side or the other is complex and requires careful consideration of the available information.
Reports indicate that children have been killed and injured as a result of BOTH Israeli military actions and the ongoing conflict, which involves fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas. The situation is highly complex and tragic, with immense suffering endured by children in Gaza."

Other statistics of children's death have been reported by the Hamas run Health Ministry in Gaza. You are hugging a terrorist, inhumane attackers numbers.
