I purchased this dainty little pink sapphire ring that''s 1.5 mm in a size 5 1/4. The cost of this little ring was only $100 - a bargain for the maternity style ring I''ve always wanted.

The problem lies in the sizing - I need to get this ring sized down to at least a 4, which my jeweler can do, but he will not guarantee that the stones will stay in the setting. The cost for the sizing and retightening of the stones is $50.

Should I keep it or send it back? I would hate to pay the $ and have the stones fall in a week or two. Thoughts?

personally, I wouldn''t do it. Better to just pay a bit more and get one made in your size IMO.

Ditto.

coming from a gal who loves being pregnant, I LOVE that you called it a "maternity" setting!

I should have stated in my orignal post that I purchased this ring in the smallest size available.

I''ve checked into getting one made and the cost is almost 3X the amount I''ve paid for this ring (Facets).

Pooo...

Well, if you know of any pink sapphire rings that are a size 4 or smaller, please let me know!

I''m a 3.75 or a 4 sometimes too. . . I guess it''s very hard to find stock in that size?

DH will start collecting eternity bands for me this year, I guess he''ll have to have them made

Which finger is it to be worn on? Would it be possible to just wear one of those plastic ring sizers on the bottom of it or wear it on a different finger? I want that ring too but I''m planning on wearing it on my right hand.

oooh, it's so cute! For that price, I'd just hang onto it and enjoy it.

Another possible fix: some jewelers will solder little ''balls'' of gold to the inside of the ring to make it smaller. Where you have a small size diff between your finger and ring this might work. I would not have it resized as the stones could be compromised.

Do you have any real life pictures of the ring, I''d really like to see it!

Have you considered calling the company up and asking them if they can order you a ring in a lower size? Sometimes places like that can do it if you call them up. If they can''t I would be temped to return it since it would be a total pita to keep having to replace stones.

What a cute ring! I wouldn''t take a chance on resizing it. Could you possibly wear the ring on another finger?

Honestly, I think the ones MrsS posted from Pearlman''s look a lot nicer. I''d never try resizing an eternity ring.
