Hi. I am interested in hearing opinion from you all expert :D

Do you think K color diamond set in platinum is still okay? I am particularly looking at the 5 stone setting.

And i know this is personal preference, but which 5 stone setting do you guys think is nice? U prong or trellis?

Thanks in advance :)

I think it might depend on the shape & setting, but for me I think K is the lowest color I typically like in platinum. Also the actual diamond and what the tone of the tint is makes a difference.
(Just to be clear - I do very much like low color diamonds - but in YG & RG.)

Unless the diamond is massive I don't like it. Even in that case I prefer it in rose gold.

I wear a K set in platinum and it looks very white, but mine is a semi bezel, not a prong setting. I generally think warmer colored stones look whiter in white metal, but this is subjective. A K in rose gold will have more of a muted, blending effect while a K in white metal will show some contrast due to the warmth of the center stone, but overall will probably look brighter and whiter. But again, this is subjective. If minimizing warmth and contrast is your goal, then you might like unplated 18k white gold - I've set a couple of K/L colored diamonds in unplated 18k and they look very white, with minimal contrast!

Are these modern rounds?

Yes!! Best summary of warmer diamonds and setting color I've read on PS!

And it should be stated that there is huge variability in tint and shade of K's.

Thanks a lot for all the expert opinion. I'm looking at round brilliant :)
