I'm buying from GoodOldGold, so they provide tons of information. It looks great to me. Should I have any concerns?
I'm still unsure of a setting other than I know she wants a white gold solitaire setting. Does anyone have any suggestions?

H&A cushion!?!? sounds awesome to me! i''ve been dying to see one in person . . .

I''ll post pictures.

Most of the pictures I''ve seen of cushions have been in very busy settings like a pave. I think my g/f wants a classic simple setting, do you have any suggestions?

do you want a solitaire or something with sidestones?

She wants a solitaire, white gold and has size 7 fingers.

well, does she want any engraving on the band or anything? otherwise, you just go with a simple WG solitaire setting, perhaps something with claw prongs or flat/ribbon prongs? i personally think both compliment cushion cuts.

What exactly are ribbon prongs? Do you have a picture? Or a link?

Thanks!!!

the top picture is a good example of a ring with claw prongs; the bottom ring has what i consider to be flat or ribbon prongs. i''m not positive whether i''m using the proper terminology for the second, but this is the type of prong that i was referring to earlier.

Hi RockyTop -- nice choice! That looks like it''s going to be a real beauty!

If your gf is saying she wants a simple solitaire setting, I would stick with someting like a 4 prong Tiffany type setting in white gold. I think that way all of the attention will be drawn to the stone, which sounds like what you both want.

From expereince, I can tell you flat prongs might not be a good option for a 1 ct stone. Typically, this type of setting/prong is used only with very large 3 to 4 ct+ stones (we''ve been told), because they tend to cover up more of the stone than other prongs might.

We are seeing how they''ll work out for our 2 ct stone, but if they cover too much, we may opt to switch to claw prongs or something else when we see the mold...

I can''t wait to see pictures of the finished product!
